Just because it connects to the internet doesn't mean it has spyware.

I like betterds3 since I travel with my laptop and not worry about an internet connection for games. The whole security issue is legitimate, but often gets rather overblown.

Thank you also, really handy. Really bothered me how motioninjoy opens up a chinese website

Sorry to ressurect an old thread, but I figured it'd be better than making a new one. I tried to get Motioninjoy to run (Windows 8 64bit) and no luck. Since BetterDS3 relies on Motioninjoy I can't use that either. Is there a third option here, or should I just go buy an Xbox controller and hope for the best?

That's frustrating. Using the keyboard controls woldn't be so bad if you didn't have to hold down the "grab" command... if it was automatic (press once to hold, press again to release) the game's mechanics for keyboard users would be way better, and still challenging.

So... any other ideas?

Xbox360/One controllers should definitely work. They have official drivers and use the appropriate input type (Xinput). That being said you could also use a PS4 controller or a large number of 3rd party controllers specific to PCs.

However, while MotioninJoy isn't developed for Win8 I've heard many saying it does work. Have you tried following a guide for installing it on 8 like this one?

Thanks, mixttime! I saw that tutorial, but it's for an older version of Motioninjoy so I bailed in an attempt to install the latest (stable) version of the software. I just beat "Brothers" with the PC controls, but if I start longing for my PS3 controller in Skyrim I'll give it another shot.
