Spectromancer

Awaiting removal of DRM
Would love to buy the game, but am not interested in obtuse 3rd party DRM. Will it be removed any time soon?

If you're not going to remove it, then you need to update the Steam store page and add the 3rd party DRM and activation limits like honest developers do.

I would have never bought this game if I had knew that there was an activation limit DRM. And I have 2 of the 3 DLC, I won't be buying any more DLCs either. Not until the DRM is removed.

I can't update it myself, so it's better to ask Valve.

Ask valve then...

It's YOUR game that YOU chose to sell here why don't YOU ask them to stop false advertising and put the correct information up.

You still need to get a clue and get with the 21st century and account based DRM (which Steam already is by the way) rather that limited activation based DRM. It's ridiculous that this game has this and you refuse to take it off and worse yet that the information is not mentioned on the store page and you tell US to tell Valve? No you do it.

I'm angry that I bought this game without knowing it had extra unnecessary draconian DRM on it because it wasn't listed on the page. If the information on Steam's page about your game is not correct or accurate then it's up to you to fix that.

I won't be buying any more expansion for this game due the hidden DRM. Instead I'll be buying Magic which is much more sensible and only uses Steamworks.
I´m the Queen of Magic-DotP, and I tell you, it´s a so bad game compared to Spectromancer. Comparing Stainless Games and Cooler is like comparing kids that learn programming and one of the best programmers in the world. If I had to decide between Magic and Spectromancer, I would always decide for Spectromancer! I really love Magic, but as long as Stainless Games is the team that programs it for WotC, I don´t recommend you to buy it!
Another point is, that you have to buy Magic each year new, so with all the expansions (you need them, if you want to become a pro-player) you spend a lot of money for a very bad programmed game.
Spectromancer you buy just once, and you have a far better (programmed) game than Magic for a very low prize.
If you refuse to buy 3rd-party-DRM, you refuse also the development of good games and help big companies like WotC to make more bad games!
And one more thing: Don´t give Cooler the fault for what Valve does!
It's not valve, it's Cooler. He could insist they put the info about the DRM on the page but he knows it will cost sales so he doesn't.

And all we refuse if we refuse to buy 3rd party drm is we refuse to support a company that thinks it's ok to inconvenience paying customers for no reason.
I've been searching for a good card game. Stumbled upon this game by accident.

Saw the DRM topics.

No buy.

Sigh. Looking for another game then. Hopefully Blizzard's Heartstone coming soon.
Forget Heartstone!
You can already pre-order Magic 2014...seems you are new to Magic, so you will have some fun...
If you look for a serious Card-Battle-game, your only option is Spectromancer at the moment. You can download the demo from the game-site Spectromancer.com. Then if you like it, decide self, if it would be really inconvenience for you to enter a damn code (which is done in a few seconds)...
It is not the issue of entering a "damn code", it is the issue of not being told that you can only install the game a few times. The entire mess is stupid, the "damn code" as you called it is already an account bound so why limit the install? Why cooler can't be bother to tell Valve to update the store page to include "3rd party DRM: limited installs". Cooler seriously believes that his fans are stupid enough to believe that Valve is refusing to not update the store to have correct information after he inform them.

None of us are knocking the game, we're knocking cooler's ethics. He's been behaving like Microsoft did during E3, did you pay attention to the backlash Microsoft got?
There's no questioning of this game's quality. I have problem with a DRM on top of Steam's DRM - it is unnecessary.

And what's worse it is not informed in the store page. That's way too much for me.

It's not much different from uPlay, Windows Live or various (all?) games from Kalypso. Sure, it's an inconvenience, and Steam is sufficient DRM, but it's still a minor issue and just an inconvenience (and for most people probably not even that).

If this is "way too much" for you, you probably have a rather low tolerance level for any kind of imperfections. :)
It is informed in Steam's Store Page if you're referring to uPlay and the others.

I simply don't like a misleading or omitting an important information - has nothing to do with my low level tolerance.
Just keep in mind, that the DRM can´t be removed, because you can download the game anytime on Spectromancer.com. If Cooler decides one day to make it a Steam-only-game, the DRM will be for sure removed, but I don´t want that this ever happens, because most Spectro-players prefer to play the game not over Steam, I too.
The point is, that the game is updated from time to time, so the Steam-version is not always the current version...also there are betas, when a new expansion comes out. We, the beta players, determine finally the expansion by discussing balance-stuff and so on in Forum together with Cooler. I hope you get a bit a better picture now, why the DRM can´t be removed...many players would complain "Hey, what´s this Cooler?? Why the hell I have to install Steam now to play my good old Spectro?"
We all love Cooler, he is so great, living for the community (day and night!), discuss with us in forum (jokes included)...he even plays with us sometimes (chats included)! Show me just one developer which does all this!
Maybe he can let Valve update the page, but imo it´s not really important, because a) There´s definitely no install-limit! and b) Some players may think not to buy it, when they see it, but it´s a very stupid thought...there are no inconveniences, you just enter a code, and it´s done!
