How to fix "Kain2.exe has stopped working"

The game seems to have problems running under Windows 10, here is how you fix that:

Go to:

C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver\

in there right-click on kain2.exe and go to properties>compatibility

in there check the box "Run Program in compatibility mode"
and change Windows10 to Windows XP(Service Pack 2) and press OK

Then start the game in Steam and it should no longer crash after the intro.

You do not need to run this game with any compatability mode for it to work in windows 10
install game from steam
run at your screen resolution at 32bit
set hardware acceleration through your graphics card
set audio to your sound card or onboard audio
if you have a xbox360 controller use controller companion here on steam for less than $3 and subscribe to the controller companion profile for legacy of kain soul reaver
run these and you will be fine
if problems check game integrity by right clicking on the game in steam , properties/local files/verify integrity of the game
