Dear Megadev, about projectiles
Is there a reason that projectile kills dont count for building or maintaining rage? it certainly makes keeping it going a bit more challenging but for me it removes the fun and skill involved in complex kill combos. at the moment all i really have to do to maintain rage is hold down and spin attack every enemy below me.

Yep, exactly that - if the rage gauge got boosted by projectile kills then the challenge would be significantly reduced. By having the rage gauge increase only with melee weapon kills you do at least have to put yourself at risk.

Yea, I definitely agree that allowing the majority of the projectile weapons to build or maintain rage would make the whole process much too easy. I would like to ask though, what would you think of a projectile weapon being able to extend rage mode but not build it? This might be fairly hard to balance but I think you already have the perfect weapon for it. The Dusty Spear of Destiny's mechanics would lend itself nicely to the trade off of getting an easy ranged kill that extends your rage but if you want to continue using it you are required to waste rage timer grabbing it off of whatever wall it is stuck in.

I see what you mean, but in the case of the spear I think you just have to be selective where you use it. Also, if you look at some of the best speed runs I'm sure they barely use projectiles at all! :) Another thing is that as soon as you introduce or even tweak an element of the game there's always a knock-on effect, and it's very difficult to keep everyone happy! I think the difficulty's about right at the moment, and the rage mode can already be used (or exploited?) to get way further than I thought anyone would ever reach.

Haha yea, you cant please everyone. Thanks for the feedback, this was just a thought that occured to me while running with my favorite setup so far. (whip, spear, and rc bombs)

Wouldn't that Spear become too good then, outperforming other ranged weapons? As for now, it pierces through multiple enemies, does heavy damage, moves quite fast and requires no ammo.

I'd like for the projectiles to have more utility since there's no enemy you can't kill at close range without trouble.

As it stands, projectile weapons are basically useless. Flair.

If that was the intended effect I can't complain... but if you wanted them to actually have a use at any skill level above "what button do I press for attack, again?" then you didn't accomplish that.

Well it depends how you want to play the game really - using projectiles is much less risky than using a melee weapon, but projectile kills don't increase your rage gauge of course. They might be more effective when we introduce the pro mode, but it really doesn't bother me if players become proficient enough to get through the game just using melee attacks - fair play to them!
