Small idea relating to the random item option.
The random item button is great, but I have one issue with it. It includes both the regular version of a weapon along with the upgraded version. This means you could possibly get the numchucks instead of the upgraded numchucks. This is rather annoying, as it is a handicap. I may as well just choose random items, see what I get, see if there is any regular version of an item, then go back to the menu and select the same things, only the better version. I hope I am making myself clear here. Basically, I know the developers read these discussions, do you guys think you could make a random button the same as the one you have now, but it only selects items that are either unique or the upgraded version of another item?

So, for example, the bat could appear, as it is unique, but not the regular shurikens, since the beheading ones are a pure upgrade, those ones should appear. Or heck, maybe just allow players to select certain items to NEVER appear in random games in case they really hate them, but now I'm just getting silly, it is a random button after all. It just feels wrong to me that I get a worse version of a weapon I have a better version of.

Of course, some unupgraded weapons should be kept too, like the REGULAR shrapnal bomb, since it is objectively better than the upgraded one. I'm just talking obvious upgrades here. Another issue would be that some item combinations stop you from damaging bosses. For example, the "final" boss. You need some sort of long rage weapon, that doesn't work when you have nothing but a baseball bat and a flamethrower. But that's an issue that's happening right now, maybe I'll make another thread.

Kind of hard to understand now that I re-read this. I'm sure you understand what I am getting at.

I see where you're going with this, but I feel like it shouldn't be an issue.
I agree with the option to remove spefic weapons from the the randomizer, as it'd allow for fun setups. But changing it to only choose powered up versions are a bit silly and takes away the challenge of the randomizer.

I'm all of the option select though, reminds me of Super Smash Bro. Brawl.
You can turn off certain items, and allow the rest to randomlly appear in-game.
A good way to do that would maybe be clicking all the items you want to turn off after selecting the Chaos mode button.

It's not exactly a need, but I could see how it'd be a bit fun.

It's just annoying to me when there is already a better version of the same item, otherwise it would be fine to me.

Weaker version = higher challenge. ;p

Weaker version = I already worked hard enough to unlock the same thing but a better version of it, why should I still use this one? It's more fun to kill those fat guys in one shot and not 2 and keep the flow of the game going faster.

Which is understandable, but you've gotta realize not everyone feels the same.
It's a part of the randomness that makes it a fun challenge.

I'm all for the idea of a turn off feature like I mentioned before, but having it set to auto-skip the normal version is a rather dull idea. Kind of defeats the purpose of it all.

I'm not saying to remove the current button, I said that they should "add" another one to do the effect I am asking for, of course I don't think the current random button should be removed, some people, like yourself, enjoy the way it works now. To remove it would be silly.

I'm a little iffy on this; honestly I thought about the same thing myself because there are a few items that just make me kind of groan whenever they drop, but then I realized that such a feature would allow for gross abuse of game mechanics in some instances. Can you imagine turning off everything but the Rabbit's Foot and Instant Rage? If that's all that dropped then maintaining Rage mode wouldn't even be minorly challenging, and honestly you wouldn't need any other drops because you'd just be tearing through the tower like the invincible mad[wo]man that you are.

Unless, of course, you're referring only to equipment, in which case I misinterpreted your post.

Indeed. Perhaps I should have made it more clear, I am only talking about things that are affected by the random button, which is only equipment.

Just changed my original post to include the fact that some "unupgraded" weapons are possibly better than the upgraded ones, these should be kept. See shrapnel bomb.

Ah, no, my apologies. You were perfectly clear; I was referring to AAA's post.

If you're rolling random items, you just have to accept that it might possibly be a challenging run. Running with weaker weapons means more challenge. If you don't want to use them, don't choose random. I don't use it, but I'd still say it's fine as it is. Getting weaker weapons means adjusting your play style and adapting, which seems like the whole point of the randomizing anyway.

Check-boxes on items or high-lighting/graying out items would be useful, if it is easy enough to implement anyway.

Yep, the Chaos Mode is intended to make life akward / interesting for players, and that lodge interface was a nightmare to code so I don't fancy doing much to it at this stage. :)

Playing Randomizer 50 times unlocks Randomizer +, allows a Customize list to cycle through.

Fund it.
