Strange Boss Balance
Is it just me or are all the bosses besides the mantis and the fury more difficult than Abarghus? Keep in mind I haven't fought Disgust or Horror, and I haven't been to the Transdimensional Leakage area of the game, but from what I've seen Doom, Torment, and The One-Armed Ninja are all much harder than Abarghus. Torment can be a pain in the ♥♥♥ to wall-jump over because of the spikes, the One-Armed Ninja always seems to run into you after you attack him while he's using his attacks, and Doom's statues are the single most annoying thing in the game imo. The one time I lost to Abarghus was the first time I fought him because I wasn't sure what to do until it was too late. For Torment, The One-Armed Ninja, and to an extent Doom, I almost always have to use a continue, but Abarghus usually goes down before I can lose three lives. Does anyone else have more problems with regular bosses than Abarghus?

Wall jump... you do know you can charge jump by holding down, right? You can even just double jump over Torment if you've got good timing. Torment is among the easiest. Jump over and down strike on the way.

Doom is less tricky with the boomerang able to ignore the statues in the way.
OAN, just need to attack and run, it is hard to predict what he does most of the time.

But yeah, difficulty can still be up there for a few of them.

I just tried Doom with the boomerang and you're absolutely right, standing in the corner spamming boomerang makes Doom the easiest boss in the game. I also figured out that you can spin-attack the One-Armed Ninja to kill him off quickly, but I still think that it and Torment are harder than Abarghus.

Doom is still a little tricky with spawning statues too close to you. But yes, range plus going through walls and obstacles is pretty great. Smart bombs would also be pretty good, able to control when the explosion happens.

And yeah, jumping over and down striking OAN on the way is good tactics. Keeps you moving out of the way, and good damage. The trickiest part is not getting caught if he runs somewhere you don't expect, or jumps/bombs more than you expect.

I disagree, all bosses can be taken in a fell swoop, while abarghus can be screwed up without enough hp left.

Here's my tactic vs all the ziggurat bosses:

I tried the all of the bosses with the axe, and I still think the One Armed Ninja is harder than Abarghus. Abarghus usually takes 2-4 lives, while the OAN takes anywhere from 4-6. The other bosses are easier, with torment and rage being the hardest of the four (Spite is easy for obvious reasons, and Doom can't hit you in the side of the arena, so I consider them to be easier than Rage).

If you know how to double downward attack and stick close to OAN as he runs, worst he'll take from you is one life.
Rage you just down attack from the get go, and start throwing axes, by the time he charges at you again, a second down attack should finish him.
Torment you just keep your distance and let him charge, then double jump and down attack.
He can also be taken out relatively easy with the flamethrower, however I'd rather keep my axes.

I don't have problems with Rage, all I said was that the Mantis and Doom were both easier. Torment I no longer have problems with, double jumping and down attacking him makes him a joke, and the gun makes him even easier (the gun murders most of the bosses anyway, so much that I've been trying a gun-only run on easy). The OAN is the hardest of the bosses imo, but I'll try that double downward attack.
