This is still happening to me. Can anyone help me?
It happens to me as well. When I first installed the game, I did not have RO2 installed, not that it has to do with anything, just saying. RS said it needed ~18 GB to install, but when I started the download it actually only needed about 9 GB. I freed up 15 GB, but it still did a check for the 18 GB, even though it only downloaded/installed 9 GB.
This is also something that happens on each patch. Recent 2 GB patch said I didn't have enough space when I had about 15 GB free after initial install of RS. It seems that it keeps doing a check for an incorrect amount of hard drive space and will not download/patch unless the incorrect amount checked is free.
I'm running off a 256 GB ssd so it's kind of a PITA when trying to keep a stock of games ready to roll.
You're best bet is to just keep freeing up small amounts of space when patch time rolls around. For example, if it does it to me again, I'll free up my ssd 1-2 GB at a time. Hope this info helps.
