Why doesn't this game fill my entire screen?

I'm playing at 1680x1050 and the game is running in a 16:9 window in the center of the screen, with a fairly thick black border around the whole thing. Now, I don't mind when a game doesn't support 16:10 and letterboxes a game so you get black bars on the top and bottom, but this is ridiculous with Fez, what's the deal here? Is this only happening to me? I went through every page of the forum and didn't find anybody mentioning this.

You can try chaning the scaling options for your video card. If its a Nvidia open the Nvidia control panel:
Adjust desktop size and position
2. Apply the following settings
Select a scaling mode: Aspect ratio
and check the box "Override the scaling mode set by games and programs"

I'm not sure if this will fix the issue but it's worth a try.

It's a design decision. They wanted their pixels to be scaled properly instead of having a blurry and uneven look to them.

I wish FTL had this option.

Could you take a screenshot? I also use a monitor of that resolution, and I'd like to see what it looks like before purchasing. Thanks.

If it's a design decision, was the 360 version the same? I played the demo on there when it first came out and I don't remember it being letterboxed like this. From what I've read, if I run the game at 720p it should either fill the screen or at least do a 'normal' letterbox. Good game but this letterboxing is strange.

The 360 version filled up the whole screen because the 360 runs at 720p. On the PC version you get this cramped 720p screen unless you have a monitor bigger than 1080p.
