This is without a doubt a PAY TO WIN game. Things are fairly easy at first, but as you go on, gear drops remain very poor yet enemies get much more difficult. You can offset this difficulty by spending some money for very rare and powerful weapons... or rather a CHANCE at them. I get that game Devs need to make money of their products, but no game should ever be a pay to win. I would rather pay $50 for a game and have it well balanced, where gear drops actually scale with the difficulty of gameplay, than have to be forced to spend money just to progress.
Also, they claim to have thousands of other players, and its supposed to be a great CO-OP experience, but during my almost 9 hours in game, the sight of another player was rare. When you were hoping for other players to show up, they were noticably absent. Only during "special events" did other players suddenly appear.
And for a side note, the character models in this game are horrible, not something you expect from a game released in 2014, they look something similar to characters from the PlayStation 2 era, the world looks decent but I can only assume they spent the least amount of time developing character models.
However the game is fun, and interesting, I will likely keep playing it but I fear that I will have to spend a bit more money than I am willing to if I want to actually progress in the game. If you plan to play then play it, it is enjoyable, but I must stress... unless you think you are going to be hardcore into it, I wouldn't recommend spending more than $20 if any at all. Also, this game is much much more fun if you have a friend to play with, roleplaying can be highly entertaining.
I give both a thumbs up and a thumbs down. Thumb up for free to play and enjoyable... most of the time, Thumb down for Pay to Win and pay to progress.. without dying 5 times per fight because you're under geared.
