The game is still amazingly fun, though.
I've worked on Defiance for over three years now and I still love it, but I might be a little biased.
Is there any new content in the base game or do you have to buy the DLC packs for new gear sets and weapons?
The game was fun until the whole "because grenades" rebalance, introduction of constant cash shop loot crates, lowering of drop rates, completely insulting loot quality, the arkforge rebalance rates, the pushing of insane amounts of arkforge to improve gear (more then it used to be) and the $$$ to arkforge ratios.
Seriously, it would take around $50 for me to improve one of my good OJ weapons to supreme with good rolls. Well, maybe more because its a gamble really. Sure you don't have to pay cash for arkforge or the uber synergies. You can always just grind your days away during the event arkfalls.
As far as content goes, there has not been much of anything new. There was some story missions added but that took me all of a couple hours to get through. So ya if you've made it through the campaign and are a decent EGO then all that's left is to farm for arkforge or do other repitious activities. Its MMO-ie so yes grinding is a big part of this. Its not up to me to decide if you will find it enjoyable. If you loved it before you took a break its core has not changed. Your break may have made it all fresh again or you might be done.
If you're on the fence just give it an install. You have nothing to loose! I don't play amymore but I keep it installed in case I ever get the urge to squish some hellbugs or run around and do a few arkfalls just for fun :)
