Let me get one thing straight: Gnomoria is a deep colonization type game like Dwarf Fortress, okay? So I'll mention DF a lot and I will compare Gnomoria to DF a lot.
When I bought Gnomoria - I expected it to be like Dwarf Fortress, but with significant improvements that would make Gnomoria able to stand on its own two feet and compete against Dwarf Fortress. Already this is a pretty huge expectation. Dwarf Fortress has been in development for gods knows how long but I think it's like at least 7 years or something. Dwarf Fortress is a huge game and arguably one of the best simulations in existence, with world building, temperature simulation, wear and tear on items, character simulation and much much more.
I played some of Gnomoria and I get pretty tired very quickly. In dwarf fortress you get to start out with items, you purchase from the fort you start from - but in Gnomoria you don't get that. Instead you're plonked down near some hill like a baby in the woods. I can't remember the progression in this game, but it was quite complicated. As an avid DF fan - I played 2 hours of this, and I simply didn't like it and I can't exactly explain why other than that it's exactly like Dwarf Fortress but it doesn't do enough things Dwarf Fortress doesn't do and Dwarf Fortress does more things than Gnomoria does and has more features....
That's why between this and DF I would still play DF. DF is free, go play DF... GO!
