Unresponsive Gnome
Anyone ever had a Gnome that was completely unresponsive and idling without a reason? My gnome will not do anything, he just wanders about in a fixed area and does not work, drink/eat and he does not respond to military commands either, he does not respond to job changing. I even cancelled all open jobs that affected him, but he still keeps wandering up and down and will likely soon perish of thirst. Anyone have had a similar issue?

I had a gnome dying of thirst who wandered like that two levels directly below the winery. He died. If it happens again, I might try zoning a hospital around him or dropping a priority 1 stockpile beside him.

Check his health/wounds. Saying he won't respond to military commands makes me wonder if he had them hacked/chewed off in combat. No hands, no work or food!

He was not hurt at all, there were no hands on the floor anywhere either as far as I remember. He died of thirst eventually. Also he would also not go on guard duty in a guard station, he does not need hands to stand watch. I think he either just crashed, trying to do a job that no longer existed or he had same as Tarot1970 mentioned, could not find food/water that was on another level somehow.

I had this problem with several gnomes, but for me, they would hang out in the Great Hall and do nothing *but* eat and drink. I think it was because they had wounded legs or lower body. I'm not sure yet if the game will show you that a gnome is disgruntled or "on strike" but that may be the reason; I still suck at this game and keep having short periods of no food or no booze that make them mad, but I never saw any "health" indicator showing unhappiness.

I have seen them be upset sometimes, but even then they eat and drink. Why would anyone that is angry stop drinking or eating anyway?

i have an "unhappy" gnome that does this, but i am not entirely sure why it is unhappy.

plenty of food(apples, strawberries and a little uncooked meat...), plenty of drink (mostly wheat beer and strawberry wine),

the only thing i can thing of is that i havent got many beds (5 beds, 15 gnomes)

they alternate using the 5 depending on if one is open.

no injuries, and i've just cleaned up the two bodies of the gnomes that were lost during a break in my defenses (a rancher and a soldier lost their lives that day)

plenty of bandages, too.
