Both Towns and Gnomoria were inspired by other games. They began development at similar times independently. There are other length threads discussing this.

They both play differently. They are inexpensive, and in a new emerging genre I enjoy so, I have and support both of them.

Go read some of the COPY of, CLONE of type threads... they are the longest threads in here so far.

Both Towns and Gnomoria get the "Clone of Dwarf Fortress" treatment which was indeed a big inspiration for both.... I don't want to say things that are already covered for many pages in other posts.

Also, as to Chip Tunes... This is an "Early Access" alpha game. It is nowhere near complete. If you don't understand that then avoid the "Early Access" section as they are not feature complete, and often sound is something added later in development.

Love the isometric graphics and the chiptune music!

OP is so ignorant.

Dude, the chiptunes are cool! D:

But if you don't like them, there's always the "Orchestral" music option. But personally I think this game was built for the awesome chiptunes. :D

"Gnomoria is a copy of towns!" No, they're both "DF-Clones".
Or, to put it in another perspective.
"Unreal is a copy of Quake!" No, they're both DOOM-Clones

More than one game can and will exist in any given genre, and that is a good thing. It gives us players more options, helps drive the development of the genre, and improves on the games that have come before.

Heh, yeah. If Gnomoria's a copy of Towns, then Starbound's a copy of Terraria.

Chiptune gives the game the nostalgia power, together with the awesome graphics and mechanics.

I have to admit, that I've played both Towns and Gnomoria and I vastly, vastly (I honestly can't understate the extent) prefer Gnomoria. I found the paino loops from towns repetitive as hell and the death screams just grated on my ears.
I'll admit that chiptunes aren't to everyone's taste, personally I like them, that aside though, Gnomoria has just felt more polished, even in the earlier versions.
Only thing I've found annoying so far is that the Gnomes on my best map refused to drink anything but beer and died of thirst.
Odd fact in reply to Cirom, both Gnomoria and Starbound have the same artist and it's thanks to them that I got my first copy, (gift code from them, known them for a few years) I tried it, loved it and actually bought a copy to send some revenue towards the coder.
