A trick I use early game: even though ambassadors need a room to stay, even if you don't have one set up they will be followed by a merchant (as long as you have the stall). You can use this to host an ambassador for 5 days or so, a merchant comes within that time, trade for things you need/want to get rid of, then they both leave. You can do this as often as you want, as well.
Ahh, so I don't háve to get them a room, but if I do, does it matter what it looks like?? Or can it just be a dirt shack? xD
