Crash? Here's What To Do Next
We're sorry if you've experienced a problem. Being in development problems do occasionally happen, and we're here to do our best to get you up and running as soon as possible.

STEP 1

If you are on a 32-bit version of Windows, you can make a minor system change to provide more memory to the application by following the steps in the following guide:

STEP 2

Make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date by visiting the manufacturers (Nvidia/AMD) website.

STEP 3

By default Folk Tale uses DirectX 9.0c. Forcing DirectX 11 mode has been known to fix some crashes. This is because DirectX 11 uses less system memory that DX9.

STEP 4

Occasionally other applications can grab control of the graphics card preventing Folk Tale from running, resulting in a black screen and crash. It's worth performing a selective startup, which Blizzard already have a good guide on for Heathstone[us.battle.net], to remove the influence such applications can have ( for example the Samsung MultiScreen.exe app ).

If you run multiple monitors, it's also worth trying unplugging one of them and rebooting your machine.

STEP 5

If the steps above didn't help, it's time to submit your crash report or error log to techsupport@gamesfoundry.com. Instructions on where to find your crash/error logs are included towards the bottom of the FAQ. Where possible, please attach a dxdiag report ( Windows only ) with your email, as well as your Steam alias.
