Warning: GameGuard Will Brick Certain Computers
I recently upgraded from WinXP to Win7, and after months away, I was tempted by a bit of sailing the seas... so I started the game via my Steam Launcher. It updated fine, but as soon as I started the game I got the first ever Blue Screen of Death for Win7.

Worryingly, when I restarted, it needed a full Start Up Repair, and even then, either Windows would BSOD as soon as it tried to boot, or it would die a few moments into running with wildly different BSOD messages. Fortunately I left WinXP installed too so I could dual boot and confirm it's not a coincidental hardware failure.

I uninstalled UWO but the problems persisted, and googling revealed it's GameGuard that's the issue; it leaves rootkit drivers in many places, and with the Steam version it's not even working correctly anyway. I'm in the process of deleting it from my older WinXP install, and then hoping to get into Win7 long enough to clear off the hidden memory processes and delete it from the registry.

But I have to say, I'm pretty disgusted now and not sure I'll reinstall UWO. A shame as I had a fair bit of fun with it, but anything which completely destroys a working Windows installation is outrageous.

Yeah, the problem is totally happened from the Game Guard (and any kind of), it kill my system program (which made me can't use internet) and forced me to reboot.
Well... I found the only real way is using a virtual machine, in almost all case..
I can't play most MMO because of this issue, which is very sad thing

I just found it in my services after not playing the game for a long time. Is there a way to totally clean it off my system?

For Uncharted Waters, the folder will be "GV Online Eg". You won't pick it up with anti-malware scanners if you've ever ran the game, because you'll have flagged it as part of an accepted program, you have to manually go into both the folders and registry and remove them yourself I'm afraid

then it is a matter of unflagging it. I deleted the registry folder went into the folder in explorer and deleted the files and I manually deleted the service in the command prompt.

I must do that in safe mode? Because I did it in normal mode.
