The first time I played NMRiH Didnt know what to do, didnt know how the game worked or even how the zombie AI played. I was saying to myself "What the hell is this game?? Hell's going on??", looking at the corners of my screen turning red and vein-like. But... After some hours of playing the game, I began understanding it. I knew lots of tactics, how to play with every weapon, lots of movements, and I even knew the weapons maxium range. Soonly, NMRiH became one of my favorite realistic-survival games, I totally reccomend it.
Some places, with a huge amount of zombie-children, spawning next to you and making impossible even to clear the way you need to walk, makes this pretty nice mod a crap. Hardcore also have to be balanced.
I really wanted to like this game but I cant. The reason is it is a tryhard when it comes to pass as a 'realistic' zombie game. The game is strictly multiplayer, and although you can supposedly play it solo, you cant.It constantly punishes you if you decide to do so.
The stamina meter of the player is one of an 80 year old with arthritis (as far as the the nimbleness of the player goes).Contrary to that, the zombies move faster than you for ♥♥♥♥s' sake. How a dead person with rigor mortis can move faster than a living person, (that is nder adrenaline rush due to survival anxiety!) is something the devs would like to explain to the rest of us.
Yet the most efficient way of avoiding them is to just walk by?That is until you meet one of the runners, who move at your speed, sending you to the slow moving ones. The game just cant decide what kind of zombies wants to throw at the player, and this leads to zero strategy for the latter to exploit.Run?Walk?Hide? How do I tell when I am on my own?
Due to the above you have to time your melee attacks with near perfection in order just to make 1 hit, which does not guarantee a kill.On top of that, instead of having a fixed number of zombies, the level keeps on churning more and more of them.Again an illogical decision, since IRL a place is always populated by a finite number of people, they dont just magically respawn more of them, all to the players' position.
I remember that I tried this game again in the past and deleted it.Now I know why.I seriously dont understand why there is a sequel in the works, and why people rate it that high. There is nobody playing it.The lobbies are all empty.
And then we get to the multiplayer part...Dear god, after multiple attempts, I managed to get into a match.I didnt know what to do, there were no objectives announced within the game, and the other players, were...somewhere, doing their... stuff, but I dont know where. There is no hud, or map to giude you in, or give a hint at least. After wandering aimlessly with the zombies for some time with a bloody axe in hands, I decided to log off.
