What's the difference between Nightmare mode and the other levels of difficulty?
I would just like to know.

Nightmare mode is harder, basically. Primarily, every one the enemies you encounter do more damage to you when they hit. Also, the bosses have attacks that are faster and cover more area, and they are more difficult to hit with your own attacks.

However, to add to ThreeSon, if it hasn't been fixed yet, enemies with the charged range attacks only shoot one attack out in Nightmare, while in Hard they shoot three... I guess it was some sort of bug, but it might've been fixed. Can't confirm it right now.

If you're planning on going through on Nightmare, I'd say go for it. IMO Ys II is much easier than Ys I... Just always stay up to level (as in: until enemies only give you 1 EXP every time you kill them) since you'll get faceraped by going into a boss underleveled.

That projectile thing is actually on Falcom's end (since the Eternal version, at least), so it's questionable that it will ever be fixed at all.

Aah, didn't know that. I don't think it's that big of a deal though. Nightmare is mostly hard for the bosses IMO.
