Ys I
I hate BATS
More specifically Vagulion, i just lost to him for two hours straight and makes me kinda regret setting the difficulty on nightmare... So anyone got any tips?

Same boat as you my friend. Decided to call it quits after a straight hour fighting him and losing.

There was a thread a few pages back that had some useful hints, like trying to stick to the corners and running along the walls. Another tip said to try and run circles around him, after his bats get in a tighter cluster.

Personally I didn't find any of that to be helpful, especially circling him. What's working out for me(getting him down to half each time, usually) is saving right in front of chest for faster retry. Then running to the bottom right corner, wait until the farthest bat is within a centimeter and then running straight up to the top right corner, then straight left to that corner or hooking down at an angle then straight to left corner. Depending on how his bats are formed up. I like sticking to running along the walls and when I'm a centimeter ahead of the farthest bat, walk for a second then go back to running. Since you want to try to keep close for when he forms up.

This fight seems really lame on Nightmare, it'd be nice if when he forms it lasts more than half a second. It's like you only have miliseconds to hit him before he batplodes and the mob chases you around for 30-60 seconds. Really annoying.

Make sure you use the roda item and get the silver sword. You have to hit him as his wings are opening. If he forms in a corner it's easier to dodge the initial bat swarm when they are all apart, but if he forms in the center/center of top or bottom wall it's harder.

This boss is insanely easy once you get the silver sword.:B1:

on nightmare you can't hurt him without being level 10 and having the silversword, also i doubt you can beat him without silver everything unless you're extremly lucky. thats what this fight comes down to really, luck. This boss has no real consistent pattern and the hit detection seems wonky, he might just fly around as a billion little bats for 6 laps around the room and than transform once and do it again!

^Yeah. That's what he likes doing with me, staying in bat form for quite a while. I can usually get hit once or twice but after two minutes of running around I take more damage because of how his bats spread out. The worst part is when he appears, you only have that half-second window to hit him, if you're to close it doesn't work and if you're to far you can reach in time. Just a really lame boss on Nightmare.

I ended up beating vagullion and the rest of the game and can happily say that there are no more bosses like him. Also timed attack mode is a cakewalk compared to nightmare, im guessing the difficulty is on normal?

Congrats on your victory! Unfortunately I'm still stuck on him. Had to quit and play some Vessel to simmer down. Glad to know there aren't anymore bosses like him and that Timed Attack is easier.

Ok. The way to beat him is to hug the walls. All the bats are following you, so you have to let them lunge at you. THis allows you to get around them and increases the amount of times he spawns.

The first time is always the hardest, took me ....I dont even know how many times to beat him lol.

Yes I beat him on nightmare

If you think he was hard, wait till you get to Dark Fact... impossible, even on normal. even with all silver.

Dark fact took me less trys then vagullion though, overall i thought he was easier, i played on nightmare though which ramps vagullions difficulty/luck factor up quite a bit.

DustyCookies 30 lipca 2013 o 12:20
yeah older games never really gave you many hints, i guess wandering around untill you figured it out was seen as part of the gameplay back then.
