Game completely bugged?
Well I killed the third boss before the second gaining the third book before the others got all 3 the old lady reads them but there seems to be nothing to do with the tower... the theives leader comments on the second book and all 3 are readable with the old lady...this is a bug right?

Nope, not a bug, but finishing the Mine before the Shrine can cause problems, seeing as how you need to keep up-to-date with Feena and Jeba at 3 separate points in the game - the second scenario only being triggered after finding the Book in the Shrine.

Anyway, it sounds like you had Jeba read all 3 Books, so if you haven't already, you need to make sure Feena's back inside the house; if she's not, then you need to speak to her on the pier, then exit and re-enter the village. Once she's back inside, talk to Feena first, and then to Jeba, who will send you off to Goban if you did everything right.

Seems like it could do with some kind of patch to notify players of that if not allow for the mine to be finished first

It can be done, yes. But there's not much point, seeing as how the Silver Sword (as well as the armor and shield) is needed to get into Darm Tower.
