Game not installed
Okay, this is the second time i've deleted and re-installed the game. when i launch FNV the launcher says that i don't have it installed and that i should check my files for the launcher or DVD ROM.

At my wits end with steam and it's long list of frustrating problems like

- Could not create desktop there's probably already one there (why is there no option to create a new one or replace it and why can't it tell if there IS one there.

- Allow access over and over for this computer. I basically never move away from my PC.

- Steam. < that in it's own right is an issue.

No matter how cheap you make your games. Please for the love of the Half Life 3 Gods fix these damn issues!

exit steam and/or restart computer then verify game cache :
run steam>right click on game in library>select properties>select local files>verify game cache

"Clicking Library in the Steam application will bring you to a listing of all games that have been registered to this Steam account. Double click any of these titles to install and run the game."

Before attempting the solution below, verify the game's files and re-test the issue.
If the problem persists, exit Steam and browse to the game's installation folder.
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\game_name\
Once you've located the game's folder, delete the "Bin" subfolder.
Then, launch Steam and test the issue.

Did you right-click the game in your library and scroll down to "Create Desktop Icon"?

that's a bizarre one, have you completely exited steam correctly? by closing steam in the icon tray? once that's done run steam as admin and try that.

Sounds like there is some problem maybe with your network. I've had steam ask me for access rights, but only when I'm using my laptop at a different hotspot.

The DVD issue is rampant on google search... I'm surprised there is no solution pinned here, I was not however able to find a solution.

Just out of curiosity, Are you using Windows Vista?

Windows 8 and you're correct there is loads about the issue but no exact resolution.

I kind of hoped that Admin properties would help it.

Might have found something...

So if you read here: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/123835-13-start-game-fallout-windows

It talks about the problem, and there is a link going here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/22370/discussions/0/846940248950664435/

It might work, Did you install Games For Windows Live client, apparentely that is the crux of the issue..

Heres another link: http://steamcommunity.com//sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=149946772

I'm surprised though, these should be pinned here in the forum... And also, they are not EXACTLY the problem you are having, but hopefully your problem is fixed with one of those 7 steps.

well, it's not me any more.
My issue was solved by running steam in administrator mode.

it works fine i just don't want to play it now.

the other guy who came here might need the help however.
JDC UK Jan 21 @ 9:35am
Bonni3, just out of interest, are you still running Steam as admin?
Have you ever tried setting it back to normal and checking if it runs properly now?
I'll understand if you don't want to risk messing things up though.
