There is no non-steam version of the game, so the question is a bit pointless. Mods are usually installed simply by putting whatever files are included into the data folder in the FNV root folder.

You might want to use the Nexus mod manager to download and install the mods, though, as it skips the whole manual installation and you can change your mod load order around in it.

Mod manager download right here[newvegas.nexusmods.com] Just install that, search through the Nexus for whatever mods you want to install, and click on Download With Manager.

there are non steam verions that install into different locations, but to answer the question yes, the only difference is the location of the /Data/ folder

Fallout New Vegas is a Steamworks title, and as such always requires activation through Steam. There are no legal non-steam versions of the game.

it may require steam to activate BUT it stores it in a different location

You can install games through Steam to different folders now, yes, but that feature is quite recent. All disc versions and such install to the steamapps/common folder by default.

Get Fallout Mod Manager so much easier. And some mods need the script extender too so watch out.

Do people ever look at the dates in threads? The previous post is from January.

Anyway... What I meant is that ALL legal copies of the PC version require Steam. There is no version that runs independent of Steam.

Can't you just buy a disc and use it on your pc, and the thread is still up so it is still active.

It obviously wasn't an active thread, necroing threads that have been dead for months is silly, especially when the "issue" has been resolved in the first reply.

Again, all copies of New Vegas require Steam. Hard copies come with an activation code you punch into Steam, and only then will it let you run the setup.

Now, please let the thread stay dead.
