It's probably just the case that the damage modelling being simpler than real life for the UH60. The more complex DCS Huey module can crash in thousand of different ways, and sometimes all in one mission :)

A mechanical failure for a helo (no engine, gearbox etc) usually means that you have enough spin in the rotors to attempt autorotation (drop the collective quickly and keep the blades RPM as high as possible to keep lift).

An impact failure (something hits you like a round or explosion) would cause the blades to sheer off or mast bump. Without rotors a helo will drop like a stone as all lift comes from them.

Unrelated to the first question but i hit a huey with part of a burst of 30mm from Su-25T and it landed from it but i noticed a rotor blade was damaged in a way that seemingly would have destablized the thing but it didnt have that problem does the game Take the weight of rotor blades into acount? like the rotor blade had a chunk blown out of it
