Flaming cliffs 3 and DCS
I have got DCS on steam and the SU25 dlc

Want to buy flaming cliffs 3 , only expansion i want at the moment

If i buy it off the official site its $49.99 and a copy of lock on for about $20 i am Based in the EU

Is there a way to merge FC3 in to steam version of DCS unofficially are plans to make it happen ?

And does any one know a place i can pick up a digital copy of lock on at a decent price

Are am I better off waiting for the release are new expansions on steam to come out
I want some fast movers not helicopter are A10

Apart from all the planes what does FC3 offer that DCS world does not ?

Thanks

As I understand it Flaming Cliffs 3 as a package won't ever be offered here on Steam, as it requires Ubisoft's LOMAC product.

The individual aircraft that feature in FC3 will be sold here on Steam as stand-alone DLC though, i.e. the 'Flaming Cliffs' set. Flaming Cliffs is also used as a name for simpler aircraft, in terms of what's simulated and modelled. Some people prefer that (fewer key presses and procedures etc).

If you want your DLC via Steam then it's worth waiting for the aircraft you want to be offerred here, otherwise just pick up FC3 now.

Thanks for the information ,

So what’s is the difference in the FC3 world compared to the DLC world ,Is the map the same? How does lomac differ to DCS ? You can play FC3 with just Lomac and not DCS?

On the website is says FC3 will be integrated in to DSC world along with Lomac ,SO if i own a copy of Lomac why cant i just merge my steam version of DCS ? could i not just buy it and merge it with my steam folder ,What’s the difference in the file setup ? compared to the none steam merger ?

Are is it just a case of licences ?

Quote the website
"FC3 is a module of DCS World, which makes it compatible with all other DCS: World titles like A-10C, Black Shark 2, P-51D, and Combined Arms"

Cant they buy the licence for Lomac are come to a agreement on percentage of sales distribution ?

Lomac is not even on Ubisofts website its been left for dead by Ubisoft , Cnat DCS are Fc3 buy this licence . Think I will get FC3 in the near future , no time frame on release for fast movers on DCS steam.

Again thanks for info

FC3 does work fully with DCS World, the map is the same, the works. It's just like a large DLC multi-aircraft pack.

It does seem to be just a case of licenses, but I don't really know for sure. It's gone on for several years, and I think many attempts haven't worked out so I doubt another publisher will get involved now. In some ways this separate DLC is a fresh start away from finding those old LOMAC disks.

At a technical level it would probably work but then it becomes (a) difficult to support, as it's not meant to be merged with the Steam version and (b) not part of the Steam updating set, i.e. if you try to update it manually then it might overwrite things on the Steam install that Steam will then consider integrity issues.

Okay Thanks , its crystal clear in my mind now :)

I have a good connection so its not a problem if i mess up the steam install
Its user own risk but think it will work with little tweaking , and back up folders etc

I found a digital copy of Lomac here for £4 http://lockon.co.uk/shop.php?end_pos=1322&scr=shop

Last question , Is it the same devs that make FC3 and DCS world ?

Yes.

Okay , Thanks :)

Okay so thought would be easy doing it outside of steam

Lots of problems on install took hours

First lock on
Then lock on update
Then FC2
Then FC3

Sounds simple ? well its not

Understand why they want to get rid of lock on now :)

Any way got my toys now , But just 4 hours until i have to get up for work :(

Actually, that is not a correct procedure. (Or, rather, it is "correct", but it is also containing many unecessary things.)

Procedure is:
1) Have DCS World installed.
2) Install Lock On.
3) Install FC3.

No need for any patches to lockon, nor FC2.

If you wish for FC3, I would recommend going to the official forums; there is a lot of discussion about that product there: http://forums.eagle.ru

Yes i tryed that
Install DCS
Install lock on
FC3 did not regognise Lock on would not load
Also said you cant install FC3 with a newer version of DCS world ?
Had to install FC2 then FC3 was the only way

Any way its done now
Thanks for advice

I would love to see some even unofficial support ... I tried to install FC3 for the first time today with Steam, A10 and combined arms fully updated and running fine

'Must have DCS:World 1.2.5 installed' =(

Soooo I'm now downloading it all externally and will just skip the steam installs from now on I guess.

the same procedure would probably need to be done as the UH-1H, you must maintain a standalone DCS world install, and activate outside of steam install by updating using that or downgrading using dcs_updater, then copying the files that are FC3 over into the steam once they have been activated.

Thanks :) I might need to do some research on that one then!
