Playable with gamepad
Is it playable with a gamepad? I know it's a simulation, but I plan on starting from easy difficulty levels, and I'm mostly interested in Black Shark. Is it possible to control this helicopter with a gamepad and a minimum of accuracy?

I've been told that it can be done. Even for the A-10 and Black Shark. I haven't tried it myself, though.

I used to play Black Shark with my xbox controller all the time. Worked fine.

If you going to use xbox controller, i would suggest a very fancy tool called Xpadder. It allows you to map keyboard to controller.

Possible? Yes.

Reccomended? No.

There are too many buttons to press to just set up a bomb and release it, can't imagine what you'd do with you know, every other necessary funtion of the aircraft.

A damn A-10 throttle itself has more buttons than a controller.

I give an advice. Do not play on game mode. If you want to learn to fly, use the most realistic options. Because on easy game mode you will only learn a lot of mistakes.

ive used a 360 controller to play lock on, as well as the first flaming cliffs. I also used it to fly in Wings over veitnam and wings over europe. the key is to map most of the important or semi important functions to the controller, like radar modes lock on and weapons toggle. that sort of thing. and then, things like flaps, landing gear lights ect. you use the keyboard. ive played countless hours of WoV and WoE as well as flaming cliffs online with a raggedy matcatz controller, and when i got my microsoft brand controller, it made a hell of alot of difference. even my old *and i mean old* flight stick a buddy lent me in college wasnt as good at it. that and i had everything mapped out so i didnt need to fumble around on the keyboard to try to turn on things like the laser designatorin the Su-25T or switch to boresight mode in the Su-27. jus takes some time, and allot of trail and error

I can't get my controller to control anything, or my keyboard and mouse. I cheched, everything is mapped. it works, sometimes. I'm giving up on this game, which is a shame, since I love flight simulators.

Well, to be fair...

The Ka-50 in full game mode is quite arcade and VERY playable with a gamepad. In fact, I do play it in game mode sometimes myself for nostalgia reasons: it plays then like the good old Novalog game from the 90's!

When you say "everything is mapped", can you please define this? Which aircraft, which mapping selection did you make, which controllers are you using? Note that mapping for Simulation and Game modes are different.

I only have the stu 25, and it has the basic controls such as roll, yaw, pitch throttle and weapon selection and firing.
