Heard there is gonna be new engine?

I heard there is going to be a new engine released. I love the game and since I am not in the ground most of the time anyway i dont really mind that the game looks like google maps since the planes fly nice and the overall simulation effects and the way planes are designed (although I only bought one plane so far) is very well done.

I heard there is gonna be engine upgrade tho that gonna make the game look 10x better.
This + the plane feels will be epic.

I have one problem though, actually two.
Any ETA on that new engine?

Also will it dramatically increase the requirments? Coz I can barely run the game on the ground getting like 30-50fps, in the air is a little bit better.
Will I need to upgrade or will DCS still work fine for me?

ps; I play with a full equipped joystick and I must say I enjoy the game 10x more with a joystick than I did with the mouse. It's really relaxing to fly although I know I am not rly suppose to that in this game since its a combat simulator but most of my time I just fly and relax myself in the skies forgetting about real life :D

I heard it's going to be a full blown engine. Im not too sure about the details, but it should even work with the current simulators and everything.

It's going to be a free upgrade, with existing modules working. Hopefully not too long till a public alpha.

This is completely incredible, the oil refinery complex looks beautiful.

It's only the mountain views i have trouble with. They seem too pixelated, could be my videocard.

This is such a great news. Can't wait for new engine! I feel like ♥♥♥♥ while playing this game with stuttering on 8 * 4400 procesor with gtx 660.

Does anyone know how many cores will new engine use?

The new engine is supposed to be much more efficient in how it utilises our hardware. Everybody, whether they have NASA rigs or something more humble from the mid 2000's will get better frame rates, and the former will be able to whet their appetites with vastly improved graphics over what is currently available.

That's how they're going to introduce it I'm sure, but no, it isn't available yet.

2.0 is in closed alpha testing atm, only ED testers have access to it.

its been in testing a long time now (at least a few months) but we really should be patient for it because if it comes out and is unstable and full of bugs then it won't be a very good 2.0 release :P

it will come when its stable and they need an open beta test.
