So, you found this game, and like platformers? BUY IT. NOW.
Hello, I am merely a fan of this franchise, because it's PRETTY GODDAMN AWESOME in all aspects. If you were as disappointed with the shallowness and complete lack of quality in They Bleed Pixels, then this is the game for you! For about half the price, even. (There is no justice in this world.)

And if you ask me, buy the soundtrack edition. If you are like me, you will demand to have the OST in your collection, and I don't think it can be downloaded from anywhere. The only one I found had songs missing (with among them my favorite, Fucus), which pretty much fueled me to purchase the soundtrack even after buying the game.

So enough talk, have at your wallet! :D

I need to bring this post up for future purchasers of this game.
I support you again.

BEST singleplayer platformer I seen. EVER.

You aren't the first and I hope not the last who brings up the fact that this game is highly overlook and underrated.

Shame really.

Thank you so much all of you ^^.

Definitely buy the soundtrack edition.

How good is the soundtrack? Before it was available on Steam I went and bought it on some French website I could barely understand. But I NEEDED IT.

Also, don't bash They Bleed Pixels. Awesome game as well, just different. (and if you buy it, get the soundtrack edition as well!)

Reasonable.... although I still feel that game could have been so much more than it is, especially for its price tag. But that belongs in that thread, not this one.

I'm glad you also support Fly'N :)
It's among my favorite games, along with Gateways. Yet it is so unknown!

I also just want to chime in with my two cents.
Earlier this year I played and thoroughly enjoyed Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams. I thought it would be the best platformer I played all year, and while Fly'N and Giana Sisters share some similarities, Fly'N is a much deeper game, a more polished game, and offers more variety in gameplay. I just made it to the final tree, beating 7 bonus levels along the way, and I am amazed at the obvious care put into it, the brilliant level design and overall high, high quality (in all areas) of this game.

GS was really dull, tbh.

All depends what you were expecting, I guess. I'd classify GS as a pure-platformer. No combat, no shooting, barely any collecting of special items required to force backtracking, just twitch and progress. GS had a great flow. They Bleed Pixels I enjoyed very much as well, but those damn gauntlet parts in the later dreams had me raaaaging at times and just killed the flow.

So many good platformers (all types) out there these days. Some other (less known) recent ones I enjoyed were Mutant Mudds, Scarygirl, And Yet It Moves, VVVVVV and Cargo Commander, to name several. Next up is Stealth ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Deluxe.

Try Paroxysm.
And setuF/Fetus if you like puzzles and weird/unexpected stuff.

This game looks like fun, definitely next on my "to buy list" =)
And thanks to Tymz I will add Mutant Mudds and Scarygirl too.
Edit: Did you mean Mutant Blobs by any chance?

I was debating on weather I should buy just the game or go for the soundtrack edition. Soundtrack, it is.

You won't regret it, I guarantee.

First off I'd like to say that I like the game, but some things within it just annoy me.
For example: Sometimes you need these blue glowing orb thingies to get to certain places. The thing is that they float upwards and if you don't catch them in time, they will just fly away and you will be unable to get them unless you restart the whole level. Now this does not affect your ability to finnish the level, but will prevent you from getting to some places that usually contain pickups.

Also when you die too many times (which you most likely will) a window will pop up saying RUBBISH would you like to stop the wave of impending doom? Here you have 3 options, "pretty please" this will probably skip the level or something but I don't know since I have never used it. "neverrrrrrrr" which will put you back to nearest checkpoint or "let me try again" which will do the exact same thing which makes no sense on its own...why would you have 2 buttons doing the exact same stuff. This thing seems completely out of place and when I saw it for the first time it completely ripped me out from the atmosphere and mood of the game.

Other than that it seems fine to me, especially the leaderboards. When I discovered it I spent like an hour trying to win the first level as fast as possible and I'm still like 10 seconds away from the best guy x)

@andrewb

This is one of the most annoying things, yes. There're at least two other times you have only one try per level: a long and complex path over destructible rocks with Ywok and an extremely fast forth-and-back move with Nyls. Playing a level ten times just because of a little error is annoying. Then again, pretty much all "doom" levels require multiple tries, so no big deal.

Almost forgot. There's one bonus level designed around catching orbs which fly away forever. Good luck with it. :D (It's not that hard actually. I was afraid it would be much worse.)

RUBBISH would you like to stop the wave of impending doom?
The "doom" levels are quite hard and I guess a lot of players are annoyed by constant dying. I think giving the player an option to adjust difficulty is good (there're no other difficluty options anyway). The three buttons have different functions:

Neverrr = never ask me again. Even if I die 100 times in a row. Works during the currrent game session. (I would prefer an option to disable it forever for all game sessions, but whatever.)
Let me try again = leave the wave enabled, but offer to disable it after another few failed attempts.
Pretty please = disable the wave now.
