Any manual available?
Hello,

as much as I like this game, one issue I have with it is that I can't seem to find any manual or documentation. The hints in-game are barely sufficient to understand the gameplay and get through the levels. But e.g. I can't figure out how the cocoons work or how to unlock any of the things with the big lock in front of them (don't even know what is supposed to be behind). Hell, the settings dialog does not even show the screen resolution you are changing to.

How did you guys find out the names of the different elements or characters in the game? I browsed the discussions, website, but nothing...

Thanks.

In cocoons, there's unlockable art got from blue-sphere-thingies collected in levels, and to have them with you in the cocoon, you need to have some left after you complete the level(and if you collect all the yellow-flying-thingies on the level, you get a bonus sphere). About the big lock... There's those "chase" levels. If you complete one of those without dying, you'll rescue a creature, unlock the big lock thingie and also unlock a bonus level. Now, at the right of the cocoon after you enter it, there's...well, can't describe it. See, in the end of a bonus level there's an item, and if you collect all the items in the world/tree, you'll unlock some...extras room. There's some hilarious stuff in there, some pictures and names of developers, some drawings and just some random stuff.

For names for things, some are on the store page, some in achievments names/descriptions, some are scattered around the discussions, some are in the files of the game, and I think there even was one or two in the game itself which is surprising enough seeing as there's almost no words in it at all. Some I found out by asking a dev!
If you need to know anything else, just ask! I know a lot of stuff about this game. I'll probably answer if my terrible memory won't fail xD

Thanks for the answer! Yea, I suppose having to find out the details yourself is part of the "product philosophy" - like you said, hardly any text in the game. Still, it's a great game for any platformer fan, and at least not too easy ;)

(Didn't want to start a new thread since my question is similar to these)

Do the orbs do anything other than unlock artwork, and do I need every single one to get all the artworks? And what do the dandelion-seed things (there's usually 200-300) do, or are they just for scoring purposes?

The dandelion seeds (I think they are called fuin) are mainly for scoring purposes. They only have one additional effect: If you collect all in one level you get one extra orb (the blue ones; called Helys). And yes, if you want to unlock all artworks you need to get all Helys.
There are 4 Helys per level: three you get by collecting and one by collecting all fuin. Only difference are boss levels where only one Helys can be obtained by collecting all fuin. There are additional Helys in some levels but there are then needed to progress. There are some parts you have to activate by singing. This does consume Helys.
