Previously had F1 2010, and refrained from buying any other version until I was sure that the series had actually improved, because F1 Challenge 99-02 with mods is still a competitive racer (I recommend looking at that, if you're interested in a realistic F1 experience, which Codemasters could learn from).
Despite that, F1 2013 is a decent game. The handling is snappy, and there is enough scope to suit different driving styles. The Classic Pack is good but underwhelming - only vintage Williams and Ferrari cars, with a Lotus here and there. I would have liked to see some Tyrell classic cars in there (like the 8 wheeled version).
The tyre wear is broken - so head over to Race Department and download a tyre wear mod. Also get the realistic damage mod, because the Codemasters default is laughably bad. In addition, forget about completing the achievements for this game also, because online is dead.
I recently purchased F1 2014, and that was a huge mistake - seriously bad understeering, and incorrect liveries for the cars (ie the Mclaren) and the steering wheels are wrong. If looking for a good F1 racer, then it is the 2013 version to recommend. There is a lot of content, challenges and scope to last quite a while - I think my 200+ hours is proof of that.
