Isn't this game just a rip off of Guns of Icarus?
It's almost identical and judging from the description, not as much depth.

A better question would be if GoI was just a rip off of this game since the UT2k4 mod was way before it, but no. Even though they have similar subject, they approach it quite differently. See other threads for more detailed comparisons.

They may be within the same sub-genre of game but in action they are different beasts, AB focusing more on slower flying, positioning and boarding actions, GoI focusing on a more action-y fly and shoot system.

Both are good, neither are mutually exclusive.

This was actually created before Guns of Icarus. It was originally a mod a long time ago, and this is just a remake.

I am dissapoint in the OP, gladdened by the people answering the question. Two very different games, and not identical in the least(aside from air ships).

To clarify, this was originally a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004, and honestly neither is a ripoff of the other. It was also a top entry in the Make Something Unreal contest back then. I was playing this game 8 years ago.

Game industry is based on rip-offs.

Dota is rip-off of AoS.
Half-Life is rip off of Unreal is rip-off of Quake is rip-off of Doom.
etc.

The more "rip-offs", the better for us, gamers.

Not a rip-off. They're both contenders in their own unique Genre. Simply compare AB and GoI the same way you would compare other similar games (CoD and MoH, Starcraft and C&C, WoW and GW2, etc.)

All games compete for players. AB and GoI are no different. I suspect we'll have more of this type of game in the future (Ocean-fareing pirates, spaceships, etc.)

Even though the first reply states that AirBuccaneers was a UT2004 mod way before Guns of Icarus, I too, like many of the other replies after, want to point this fact out that Guns of Icarus came out after the mod of AirBuccaneers.

As far as video games ripping of other video games, they are all a rip-off of Tennis for Two.

Quake is a rip-off of Doom. Hahaha, a sequel is a rip-off. HAHAHAA
There is one similarity though, both barely have any players left online :) huehuehue

Games that look similar on the surface but are very different beasts when you get down to the meat and potatoes. Also as others have pointed out, Guns of Icarus was probably inspired by the mod this game is based on.
