L4D2 Beta Runs Great! (Anyone Else?)
No problems at all! I'm amazed.
I get a average of 90 - 120 fps on Crunchbang Linux

Well, I have similar configuration and no problems on Arch, but listing everyone who doesn't have them may get little long ;-)

Running Intel C2Q6600 @ 2,4 Ghz and GTX275 and running perfectly smooth (didn't measure fps though) on maxed out settings, but AA2 and VSync off. However when switching maps from Dead Center 2 to 3 it stucked and crashed my X. ~Arch Linux out

Runs very well for me too. I was surpised as I expected it to be really buggy; so Valve have done a great job porting it over. i5 3550, GTX 660, ubuntu 13.04.

why is there a beta out if the full game is running
Ralf [GNU/Linux] Jun 10, 2013 @ 9:15am
because l4d2 was in direct3d for windows, & l4d2_beta is rewite in openGL for GNU/linux mac & windows, i thing.

im happy with performance also.. 2560x1440 / high settings / 4xAA (60fps) AND normal mouse accel (not the +6secs delay jittery one in OSX...
Ralf [GNU/Linux] Jun 10, 2013 @ 1:57pm
Same for me, i have more fps: +(15-35 fps)
With the same hardware. but never played any games since 2 years (haven't see nvidia driver improvement).

Run better now on GNU/linux than windows7, 2 years ago.

Is it: nvidia driver optimisation, valve game engine, openGL, GNU/linux? dunno.
I dont have windows 7 on hands, so i cannot install l4d2_beta openGL on win7, & do benchmark vs l4d2 direct3d vs l4d2_beta openGL GNU/linux.

1980*1200 2xAA / all settings Max
GeForce GTX 285 (rev a1) driver 319.23

It ran great for me the 1 time it did run for me. Now it won't launch.

Well, if you’re searching for help, you certainly should add some details.

Runs wonderfully for me under Windows 8; I'm getting over 100 fps most of the time at 5976x1080, and it's not like my rig is terribly cutting-edge or anything. It could be my imgination or just coincidental luck when I've tried it, but it seems noticeably faster and smoother overall than the regular version. No crashes or other problems.

Beta is not limited to Linux. And having some game actually working in W8 _is_ achievement by itself :p

I know, though the beta won't change anything in terms of performance for windows since there are no new effects or anything like that added.
