Report Bugs and Glitches
We all love this game, so I figured we should combine as a community to make this the best game possible.

Post ALL of your bugs and glitches you find throughout gameplay in this discussion tab. By doing so it would give IonFx a place of reference that refers to ALL issues within Maismata.

Yeah... much better title haha
Umm... one of the bugs that I continually have is that whenever I encounter the creature there is no heartbeat warning.
Only through its roar and stalking noises can I tell if its near. IS THIS NORMAL?

Also... I heard that you can scare off the creature by waving buring stickes at it ;however, it does nothing. All he does is kill me :(

This is probably due to your speakers. I had the same problem. Try playing with a pair of headphones and see if you hear it.

Experiencing low Framerate and Static-like sounds when I open my map. ESPECIALLY when it's raining

I tried it with both Music and Master volume on full. NO SUCESS :(

Alright, so a few days ago I bought this game. I absolutely love it. However, it is a bit jumpy for me. Which I am sure is due to my computer, not the game itself. I love the game regardless and am suggesting it to everyone I know.

Now, my bug is... When I first bought it and loaded it up, it ♥♥♥♥ forever which I soon realized after the fact that Miasmata as a game in fact has an extremely long loading time. I don't mind it as much since I have plenty to do while waiting for it to load.

Another glitch I got... When it finally loaded up it didn't show the menus. None of the beginning stuff showed. It showed the brown paper looking thing, but no lines to show the different save areas and no words for "Quit" and "Settings". I know enough about games to know there was likely a spot in the middle to click and make a game so thats what I did. The game loaded up, everything was fine but then the mouse got stuck, as in I couldn't look around or anything. I pressed escape to try and leave but again no words and I couldn't move the mouse. I actually has to use ALT, CTRL, DEL to open up task manager and manually shut it down like that.

A few minutes later I start the game up again, no menus again but I start the game and same thing over again. I had to leave, and the third time I came back everything was normal, it was all great. I now enjoy my game daily.

Issue: Grainy, distorted looking water, the further the water is from me, the more distortion is present.

Stats:
OS: Windows 7 64 bit
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTS 360m

VISUAL/AUDIO GLITCHES

(Soley cosmetic issues that do not impact gameplay progress.)
  • In the red house near the start, I was trying to synthesize a grey shelf fungus and instead it showed me cutting up a different flower.

  • When exiting the map, my mouse would be stuck in the same position until I would go to the map again, move my mouse and then exit out. A reload of the save didnt fix this, only moving in the map screen did.

  • Beside the aforementioned red house, there are the medicinal flowers. After picking one up, I cant pick up another. Maybe this is done on purpose, but the animation of grabbing the plant still plays.

  • Shift Tabbing into Steam overlay does not pause the game. :)

  • After reading new research entry, closing and opening the journal will not dim the item as "read".

  • Synthesizing a compound you've already made may prompt the game to show the research tab again, and add the compound as a new entry. (despite this not being the first time).

  • While lying in bed, about to sleep, you can still press spacebar to jump and hear yourself jump.

    Just switched to beta, so glitches may only relate to beta:

  • Closing and reloading a save game will cause some notes in tents to reappear. Picking up the note will not trigger player's journal to open.

BUGS

(Impacts gameplay and may be VERY frustrating)
  • Picking up a medicine you already have simply places it in your inventory, deleting the one you had. (Tested on Extra-Strength capsule) If this is a design choice, please communicate it to the player. "I can only carry one of each"
  • Information about Plants/fungi already researched will sometimes disappear from journal.

I'll be adding to these as I see more issues.

Little glitch when I use the map. When mouse control is taken away when you triangulate your position, or when you open the map next to a known landmark - if you don't let the zoom-in/location reveal play out before exiting the map, you have no mouse control back in the game. You have to reopen the map and close it to get it back.

Issue, possibly CRITICAL:
one vial for the cure is missing from the journal.

I've sucessfully synthesized my first Agent for the cure, Agent Z a few days ago. I've played through the game, saved various times, everything worked fine. Today, when I've reached outpost Tau, I've noticed that the vial for the cure was missing from my journal (but it was there a few minutes before). Anyway, the tick mark on Agent Z is still there and under the "research" tab there's still the note for the synthesized Agent. Unfortunately I've saved the game just before noticing this so I can't start from a previous save. I've quit the game and started again, but the vial is still missing.

I'd just like to know if I have to start worrying or not. :)

UPDATE: I've synthesized also Agent X and Y and.... nothing.

I can't complete the game because they aren't combined automatically.

I don't want to go back and search again the two plants for Agent Z (especially when one of them was extremely diffucult to achieve). Again, all the Agents have got the tick mark next to them in the journal, there's just the Agent Z vial missing and apparently it causes a critical bug.

I love the game and I really want to finish it, so please tell me if there's a solution for this issue or eventually, if it's possible to have a save files right before Robert synthesize the last Agent.

If using the controller and it turns off during play it cannot be used again until the game is restarted. Sometimes the creature attacks suddenly and without the heartbeat warning.

No problem :) I think I may know what the issue is. Is it possible that after you synthesized AgentZ, you didn't grab it off the yield tray? This would lead to the exact circumstances you describe. The X,Y,Z checkboxes would be ticked, the top one wouldn't, the vial would be missing in the journal, and the AgentZ note would be in the 'research' section. Since it was the 1st Agent you synthesized, perhaps you missed it because it was early in the game and you hadn't fully figured out how the game worked yet.

If you want, you can send me your gamesave via email to: contact at ionfx dot com. I'd be happy to insert that vial in. Otherwise you can re-trace your steps and the vial may still be sitting on that yield tray. On Win7 and Vista, the gamesave is called saves.dat and should be in Users>YourName>AppData(hidden)>Roaming>IonFx>Miasmata

Are you using a 360 controller? If the controller turns off in other games, will the game be able to recognize it again without a restart? I'm wondering if its a bug, or just the way those controllers work on the PC.
