Miasmata Update #1(beta) Accessible now
As many of you have figured out, a beta version of the update is available to download now. This update contains performance optimizations(10-50% fps improvement + reduction of loading stutters), some bug fixes, re-written terrain texturing, V-Sync and Windowed mode. We are still working on improvements, so things will be changing over the coming days. Our primary focus has been on performance, so you shouldn't be too surprised to see some of your favorite bugs and quirks still present. :) Also, there is a nasty memory bug present in this current beta. Many of you may experience some nasty crashes, so just a heads up with that.

To use the update, right-click on Miasmata within Steam and click 'Properties'. Then, click on the 'Betas' tab. On the drop-down menu, select 'patch1_beta1'. Click 'Close' and the update should begin to download. It'll be about 1 gig.

The update is currently password protected. The password is: beta1

Yes this is great but I cant download the update because it says it's private and needs a password... explanation to why this is?

I'm sorry. I forgot to mention it in this thread. I added it above.
Any chance us GOGers can get a hold of that patch?

Once the patch is out of beta, then we'll make it available through GOG. It shouldn't be too long, assuming our faithful testers don't reveal some serious bugs. :)
well with the beta the only difference im getting is a little faster load times, but for some reason, miasmata is now trying to consume over 4 gigs of ram according to task manager and is running just as terribly if not worse than it did before :( Thanks for all the work you guys are putting in! Looks like a great game!

Would you mind telling me your system specs? The game shouldn't be capable of using more than 2 gigs. Miasmata is a 32 bit program. For us, task manager shows 1.3 to 1.5 gigs used on average. Perhaps you are using some version of task manager that combines both video ram and system ram? Or is it possible that you are looking at total Ram usage? Not just Miasmata's contribution?

THANK YOU IONFX! i can play this game smoothly now

Game is playable for the most part now. My fps can still drop pretty low when i walk around woods and stuff but i guess that's only because im using a laptop with non switchable GPU.

Well it appears you are correct sir, I did some reading on my graphics card and i am running an 8600m gt, which i now understand cannot run the game, and since i am on a laptop that cant upgrade gpu's it looks like i will enjoy miasmata some other time, hopefully this coming year, i assumed i was safe cuz most indie games i can run but, the game did look gorgeous, a little to good to be true lol

Full Specs:
2.2ghz Core 2 Duo
3gigs ram
Nvidia GeForce 8600m GT
Windows XP SP3
So what happened to achievements working in this beta version?
Still hoping for a way to change the FOV. :(

Can no longer load saved game since last part of beta update downloaded this afternoon (less than 1mb update). Saved game loaded fine after first part beta update was released.

I can start a new game and load the new game up - but trying to load the saved game i have been working on crashes the game to an .exe error or freezes on loading screen.

Happy to start again given how much i enjoy the game - would be great to be able to use old saved game file with latest performance update tho.

Is there a better thread or way to provide this feedback?
what's the password?
