Kitty won't leave!

So i've been doing what the guides say and sitting still in tall grass whilst the Creature looks around. After a few minutes of wandering around the spot I'm in, it loses interest and runs away like the guides said... only for it to run straight back to me and continue wandering around for me

I spend half an in-game day waiting for it to go away again after this but it seems stuck in an infinate loop, meaning I have to try and sneak away from it.

Maybe there's a bug with it's despawn or something, so when it fails, the creature goes back to it's last job of looking for me? I tried checking the files through Steam and they're all okay.

Yeah, he can be a persistant little bugger. In situations like that, you can either choose to sneak off quietly, or do a runner. It depends how brave you're feeling and how you rate your chances.

I will say that sight, sound and smell are all important to him hunting you. Defeat these, and you can get away.

Well yeah, I know about the guide and have no trouble hidden from it but this seems to happen consistently and feels like a bug with it's despawn.
