Will the mmo happen, or not?
Hi Keen.
I see you are working on a new game, congrats! One question though: I bought the mmo preorder more than a year ago but I haven't heard anything about it yet. Is it still happening?

I asked this in your new announcement thread, but it must have been the wrong place as my comment got deleted.

I hope you'll answer here.

We understand that you have questions about the MMO project. We are planning to post more info during this week (some sort of FAQ).

Sounds good. But why the secrecy?

There's no secrecy. I already touched this subject on my blog, but people had some more questions and we want to answer properly.

Oh good, I'm glad we can talk freely here.
Please answer this, then:
Will you return the money to those who preordered if you aren't planning to do the mmo anytime soon?

I think that would be the right thing to do.

Here are the answers to some of the questions that we have received about the MMO. Hope it clarifies now some things.

That sounds like one long dev cycle for the MMO. Can the license be transferred to one's children so they can enjoy it when it comes out?

The dev comments aound a bit worrisome to me - can't spend the time thinking about the MMO... sounds like it'd be nice for them to do something for early purchasers of the MMO.

Why not give early MMO buyers a free copy of the most recent game, since the dev describes it as part of the development of the MMO?

So that's what happened to the MMO. Development frozen, no refunds. I am disappoint.

You can still buy it, if you want :/

We are considering about this option. We really don't want to keep the people who purchased any of our titles disappointed, so if something like this can help, then why not to do it. But this is something that requires enough programming time for us spent so it will take a while until we will be able to implement and announce it.

Wouldn't it be a lot easier to just admit that you rushed the mmo announcement a bit, apologise for the long silence on the matter and then give the money back? That would also save you some programming time, on top of it being a lot more satisfactory to the people who feel mistreated by you. It might even earn you some good press, people appreciate honesty.

Also, some of those who purchased the mmo might not be interested in Space Engineers, so if you choose to go this route it ought to be voluntary.

I'm sorry if I'm a little direct here and I admit being someone who can't program at all but would you mind explaining or at least giving the community some insight into the technical difficulties in giving people who bought the MMO the choice of getting Space Engineers instead?

Don't expect much, these guys are hacks, full stop.

Its not bad game. I paid 10.00 USD a few years ago for Miner Wars and became a 1st Adopter. I think I get the mmo for free when it comes out.

Damn. I paid 20$ for the mmo alone, must have bought at a bad time...
And now, after keeping completely silent for a year, they have delayed the mmo indefinitely and kept the money.
Not even an apology, just "we keep money, ha-ha!"

starting to regret my purchase...no mmo, no sandbox...

I bought Miner Wars as an Alpha Tester and had to buy it again in Beta and on Release. By that I mean I HAD to. It wasn't "do this or you can't play". It was "too bad you already got charged". I doubt they will ever deliver.

EDIT: Guess who just got charged AGAIN?
