A few friendly questions.
Hello Keen Software House,

I bought into the game several months ago, but just now got around to giving it a shot. I enjoy the gameplay, as it's very remeniscent of Forsaken and Descent titles. I'm super excited that 6DOF is being revived. Great job with Miner Wars in that respect.

I was also excited to see you released the source code for the game. That means bring on the mods. :)

My questions are:

1. Do you expect to add any more content to Miner Wars 2081? Or are you finished with content? - The reason I ask is that I am super disappointed that base-building was pulled. I understand if it was too tough to implement...but man, that woulda been super awesome.

2. How is it you advertise "billions of sectors" (see Key Features at the official website) but also advertise that this is a campaign driven game. (1% sandbox?) - I'm also curious about the RPG-like/Survival gameplay in the "Key Features" as this doesn't really line up with a "campaign game".

So. Do you plan to add more features to "encourage exporation and mining" or leave it as a campaign? I'm not trying to be mean, so my apologies if you see it that way, but it seems like false advertising when I read it somewhere as a sandbox/RPG exploration game...and in other places I read that it's 99% campaign/1% sandbox.

Thanks for your time. Great game, just sort of confused about it.

Just read the Dev blog- they addressed false advertising there as "communication problems" (sic!). In short- the Dev is full of ♥♥♥♥ as usual, they are moving to a new project now.

Oh, and "BELIEVE THEM", the NEXT project will have it all.... yeah right...

Marek Rosa (Dev) made us wait for the Dev blog post like it would address all the problems with sandbox when we asked about the lack of it. After a long wait it turns out to be "oh, well -we had some issues, but we are great!"

In regards to mods- i would hope this to be true. Sadly there are virtually no posts/topics about modding on the game forum. Doesn`t look like anyone will bother iwth making any mods (a pity)

Sorry for the rant, i just had to vent off my frustration with MW2081. It was supposed to be such a great game. Turned out to be such a lie...

This was my first and definately the last game bought from Keen Software House. I will be more cautious with supporting Indie studios in the future prior to the game release.

I still believe that Keen did the best they could.

the campaign was 15 hours, good enough for me and I would consider the sandbox a new game anyway.
usually you don't get campaign and sandbox in one game, definitely not for $20 or so.

saying that they are liars won't help nobody, not even players. we need to realize that developers such as Keen Software invest their own time and money and we should be grateful. or at least show some respect.

Jakub, i was respectfully waiting what will the Devs do for over a year (i even defended the game and the Dev on the forums). There comes a time when you need to open your eyes (at least for me, thx to the blog post). Not all indie studios are worth supporting just because they are indie. Further, certain practices in business are just bad and imho should be spoken against.

I really didn't intend to create a hostile conversation. I was hoping for answer from Marek himself... what you say (bar.psy) is what I sort of expected to hear, and for that I'm saddened. False advertising is one of my biggest annoyances these days, it should at least be changed on their webpage.

Reading the blog carefully shows the real problem of the development.
Finding the right people with the skills it takes to make the game as Marek wanted it.

So I can understand why some things went wrong and the devs have my full respect.

imho it is a different problem. Marketting...
They had time to make a separate game and start selling it before finishing the main game development- the sandbox/build elements were ingame already as well (they got removed though).
To my knowledge this is a business decision which became a problem, not a "problem" itself (similar to the DRM/always online decision).

I`m pretty certain that if they didn`t plan for MMO soon which will have the sandbox they would let us have fun with sandbox in single player experience in mw2081...

Would they want to be fair/ok to their pre-steam supporters (who payed for the game WITH SANDBOX) they would grant us an access to MMO. On the contrary i see a lot of moanining/groaning on Devs part in his posts (blaming life and whatnot) and not even a "sorry" word for us.

@Sabberschlonz- i encourage you to read their forums, not only blog if you want to know whole story, not only what the Dev wants you to know...

To be honest i try supporting a lot of Indie game developers - i haven`t seen the level of miscomunication and poor decisions seen in this game in any other indie game myself yet (well, maybe besides Diversitas/Infinite Pixels).
