i use a common practice when older games animations break, i use control panel to lock the FPS to usually 60 and most get fixed. this games field of view is super small, and it crashes if you alt tab it 100% of the time, but you get to save frequently if you do need to alt tab, haha. ive seen there are fixes for the tight fov, but i got used to it pretty quick.

the games writing is entertaining and a decently paced trip that goes on for longer than it looks, story beats going one into the other without side content or what feels like lengthy areas with no progress (til the mid section of the game) with fun, classic voice acting. gruff detective tryna make a living. some parts can be annoying, with unskippable cutscenes after you fail a super strange forced route, but if ur annoyed just look up real quick on a guide how to do the section if you fail a few times, i did. save yourself the headache, theres some strange pathing and why waste your time? theres ASCII guides from 13 years ago to help you

the game itself is pretty cool. once you suddenly have an arsenal of guns, its a surprisingly fun corner peaking shooter with a super unique healing system, similar to fallout if you healed using a graph instead. specific body part healing with a 3d model man lookin at you with his injuries, pretty neat. healing is lengthy and takes place in the active world so finding a good time to heal is tough. it can be hard if you dont take cover and plan, which wasnt expected. the other unexpected thing is the character fear mechanics, theyre funny, your fov goes EVEN smaller, you walk sideways, hear random voices, its like amnesia but ♥♥♥♥♥♥

for like 2 bucks its great if you want a story driven fps with some unique and annoying parts to the adventure. most lovecraft games suck but this ones pretty chill, you know its not going to be perfect, its good though

How do play this game without crashing.

Dislike goes for the steam version, not the game per se which was fantastic - gameplay was often tedious and the finale was impossible to finish. fortunately i was only a cutscene away from the end.
