Unable to post on official Forge forums because I'm not receiving my validation email.
I'm posting here in hopes that a Forge dev sees this so they can help me out. I need to post in the official Forge website forums because I'm unable to play the game since it constantly freezes, but I'm unable to because I'm not receiving my validation email.

I've been checking my spam folder just in case it got sent there but there's nothing there except the usual crap. I just did a "Resend validation email" from the playforgewar.com website, but again I'm not getting a validation email.

This is extremely frustrating because I can't play the game and then on top of that I'm unable to post my issue on the offiicial forums because their website won't send me a frickin validation email. I'm pretty much screwed from every direction here.

Hi dude, I'm very sorry about that - not sure what's up with your forum confirmation emails. With a little more information we may be able to figure out why your PC isn't working with Forge.

The information we need is a combination of a log file, a crash dump file, and your DXDiag report.

The log file and crash dump file can both be found in the Forge logs directory, here:

%STEAMDIR%\steamapps\common\Forge\ForgeGame\Logs

('%STEAMDIR%' is often 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam')

After experiencing a crash, you'll want to grab the latest .log (game log) file along with the latest .dmp (crash dump) file. If this directory has a lot of files in it, either grab them all or delete them all (it's safe to do so), then re-run the game and get the crash. The game will create one log file each time it runs.

To get your DXDiag report, go to 'Start' -> 'Run' -> 'DXDiag', or 'Start', then search for 'DXDiag'. Hit 'Save All Information' to write out your detailed system information to a text file.

I don't have a crash dump file because I never actually crashed, it just freezes all the time and is unplayable. I end up having to alt-tab out and back in just to get it working enough to get to the menu in order to exit the game properly.

All I have in the Logs dir is a Launch.log, and a timestamped Launch-backup file. I can send you those 2 along with the DXDiag, and the ForgeDiagReport.txt I generated with the ForgeDiagnostic Tool.

Thanks very much for sending those through - I can't tell straight-off (although I'd guess a problem in your graphics drivers), but we'll be investigating this further this week.

Yeah, this is likely an issue with your GPU or graphics drivers. You can try upgrading your drivers to the latest WHQL drivers:

If that doesn't help, you could try checking stability of your GPU with something like 3D Mark:

I already was running the latest Nvidia WHQL which are 314.07, and 3dmark ran fine. I have tons of games on this machine, and Forge is the first game I have played on this PC that is unplayable because it freezes constantly.

The other day I decided to install the new Nvidia beta driversw to see if maybe Forge would behave normally and let me play. The version of these beta drivers is 314.14. I fired up Forge, went to do the tutorial, picked the rogue type class to play, went down the path to try the abilities and everything went smooth and the game actually let me play without freezing... until... the game crashed to the desktop with an error box that popped up containing this text...

Not sure what that might be, but I was kinda happy to see that the game behaved for a short while.

I really want to play this game and hopefully this error is just a build away from disappearing.

Tried to play Forge again today, and decided to play 1920x1200 windowed. Everything was fine for about 2 minutes or so and then this happened...

I had to close the game via Task Manager because it had become unresponsive.

Are there any Forge devs still following this forum discussion?

Yeah, it looks like your GPU is dying. This isn't so much an issue with Forge as with your GPU - although I understand it's a bit confusing if you're only noticing the symptoms at the moment in Forge.

No, that's not a GPU freak out because it's dying. I run this PC constantly, playing games, surfing the web, etc... If my GPU was dying I'd have a lot more video issues than just Forge. I just ran 3DMark the other day. I ran all the tests without a problem so please don't tell me my GPU is dying when it's clearly not.

I'm sorry - I don't really know what to suggest. The crashes were happening in the drivers, not Forge. The rendering error above could possibly be an issue with Forge, but issues like that normally don't give any useful logs or crash dump files for us to look through.

Well, whatever the case may be, I've asked Valve to revoke the title from my library, and to issue my cost of the game to my Steam wallet.

I'll just chalk this up to one of those odd situations where things just didn't work out no matter what. Good luck to Dark Vale in the future, and whatever you guys cook up next. :-)
