Forge REVIEW - Rushed letdown or amazing PvP experience?
See the full review here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sRM1u11gBM

Forge certainly is a bit of an off- and on game, after a failed kickstarter it is good to see they made it on Steam Greenlight. However, it doesn't take long to notice that it seems to suffer from that "rushed Greenlight" status some seem to suffer from. The combat is excellent and a ton of fun, but a lot of functionality is missing making this, sadly, feel all too much like a beta experience.

Good review, strange that it nowhere says this game is in beta or alpha..
It clearly is when you can't even select all game modes.

I watched your review last night, it helped me to decide to indeed wait a bit with the game, but it has a lot of promise.

Yeah, next patch will hopefully remove at least 90% of the beta-ness :P which will be great.

reason for this.. and you can guess it.. the main director of all problems at games.. Steam

its very simple, Dark Vale NEEDED funding to continue, thus needed to start selling the game.
Now there is one thing Steam usually never does, especially with Greenlight games. They dont let companies sell a game as alpha or beta -_-
Thus Dark Vale, who needed money to continue to make this great game, had to make the rush release, which ended in them using a beta version as release version.
I can tell you, Dark Vale has put out the moment of release as far as they could, but as indie game devs who almost got all their money from a low Kickstarter budget, its really hard to start up.
I do forsee good stuff in the future for this game though

The important part is the game is a blast to play in its current form. Guess what, its only going to get better with all of the great ideas they have in the pipe. Very pleased with my purchase.

no point to wait and buy this game, just buy it, get a friend playing too. They needs funds to make this game hella better and impliment patchs quicker and that comes from us. Should give it a chance.

I'll be picking the game up at some point, but it looks like its better that I wait until its more fully fleshed out. I looks great so far, but I know I'll get bored in its curent state

I got the game last night. I played for 5 hours! I have not sat with a game for a 5 hour single sitting in a long time. Love the pvp in this game!

My fear is that the updates will never come when games are released like this. IF they dont get money to continue supporting them, how are the updates going to come? Seems like a risk

"As some of you have mentioned, Forge was released with a lean feature set. We held off on allowing people to split between different servers based on gametype as we knew that though being forced to play Random could be frustrating to some, it paled in comparison to the frustration of playing on servers that seemed empty. Until the number of players grew to a level we were comfortable with, it was vital that we keep everyone playing together. There are several updates coming your way. Some of these are likely in the month of December, perhaps all should testing continue to go well.

Unlocking the Arena gameplay mode

Our first iteration of the Arena gameplay mode will be pickup randomly join friendly and will not be rated. You have one life. Once dead, you stay dead until the next round. After 10 minutes, if neither team is victorious from having defeated all players on the enemy team, a tower spawns. Winning control of this tower wins the round. The tower is put in place to avoid stealth class stalemates. Conflict is required if you hope to win.

This mode will be available as an option you can select alongside Random.

Our servers listed on the Steam Server browser

Our servers will be listed in the server browse found in the Steam Client under View->Servers. Select Forge in the game filter drop down when this feature is enabled and you can select the server of your choice and take advantage of all other Steam server browser functionality. We opted to move forward with this method as it provides a well tested and stable server browser with lots of useful functionality inside an environment you’re already familiar with.

Skins! This includes, the Founder skin reward for all 5 starter classes and the level 99 skin for all 5 starter classes... "

I saw that and indeed it sounds great. Sadly it has no 'release date' or anything of the sort, lets just hope they patch it soon because I would really like to see this game succeed and would love to revisit once they include some of the basic functionality.
As it stands it's still a good game, but people need to realize and decide if they want what is essentially a beta product.
Moskibear 9. Dez. 2012 um 7:57 Uhr
with the amount of people that bought it I'd expect it to go up in the activity rankings, yet I see nothing, starting to wonder if people are just purely buying the game to be able to trade the extra copy by now >_>
