On a controller: Analog stick or D-pad?
I usually use the analog stick, being used to it from playing Sonic Generations (on a 360 controller).

But the game also runs alright using the D-pad. I'm just not used to using it.

So has anyone tried both? Do you have a preference? Why? And what have you found that gives you the best performance and precision?

I gotta admit, it's a bit frustrating when I want to dash in one direction and I end up dashing 45° off. I wonder if what I could be doing to improve my control,

It's a good question because in this game it really makes a big difference.

I personally use the analog stick because I have an xbox gamepad and I don't like the d-pad on it at all, but the d-pad is definitely more precise so it's a matter of taste if you rather go for precision or comfort.

I only use the d-pad while twirling near spikes since the analog stick is too sloppy for those situations.

I use the D-Pad for all platformers. Gives me the precision I need. I always found Analog sticks horrible to use for Platforming.

HOW do you use the analog stick??? The game doesn't recognize my 360 controller's analog stick!

Edit: weird, now it started working...
