Old Crasher's Castle - Pinball

Okay so i'm on the level where the bouncy pinball bits are introduced, and what the ... is this?
After the first couple of sequences even if i manage to activate them they will eventually stop throwing me far enough and i'll just fall into spikes. I'm not awful at platformers but it's entirely within the realm of possiblity that I'm doing it wrong, so, how do they work?

Quickly ran through it again to check. As long as you hold dash, you should be fine. Only reason why you should drop into spikes is if you let go of dash or if you miss the pinball thingie (and I find the dash "smart" targeting can be really sutpid when you are near pinball things... hitting those can be a pain)

That's it, i simply wasn't holding the dash button to stay on the path. Thanks!
