Low FPS.
Hi I would like to play morrowind, but I have extremely low fps. I tried lowest resolution and min settings but it doesnt work and I dont know what's wrong. I've been playing skyrim on high and I also have been playing morrowind with maxed setting long time ago on the same laptop. I need your help. Some screenshots below. You can see normal fps rate when I look at the wall, but as soon as I look at Jiub and that corridor, fps drops. Any ideas?

And It's hard to make such a screenshots, but when I move my fps is about 15-25.

Mmh, guess the engine is not very good. Years ago, when trying to make some exterior space I noticed really bad performance on spaces with to much placed detail (like the build-in manually placeable gras). Since it's kind of working in interriors, that may be a reason why it's not so well outside, though I can't tell, why it's performing so bad on your specific hardware.

Try searching for the FPS Optimizer for Morrowind. This tool tries to blend out objects, that are not visible (if something else is before it, or the object is to small to be seen in the distance). I believe the FPS Optimizer is also kind of integrated in the Morrowind Overhaul project. Maybe your game just needs an overclocked Morrowind. Link: Morrowind Overhaul project site[] ;)

I'm gonna try it, but I doubt it will help me. I've been playing morrowind overhaul and it has improved graphics and replaced textures and I have very low fps even with vanilla low res testures and effects.

That doesn't sound good. :( Probably it's some serious hardware incompability?

There is another project actually trying to convert the code, but that project is far from finished. But you still might keep an eye on it: Open Morrowind[]

Hardware incompability? No, I dont think so. I've been playing Morrowind on the same laptop and my framerate was pretty good. But maybe it's software incompability.

I have the same problem :(

Sorry I'm a bit late to help, but if you haven't already try setting your process affinity to one core if you have a multi-core processor. You can do this in the task manager once the game is running. Good luck.
