The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Love Skyrim, not so big fan of Oblivion, will I enjoy Morrowind?
From what I have seen, Morrowind can be modded and look pretty damn good, but when it comes to gameplay, is it really outdated or is it perfectly playable?

Thanks for quick answers.

Melle is outdated badly -_-

Watch the toonami review of the game it describes it well :)

I think it's pretty much about opinions.. Outdated.. maybe a little? Or more like different. Morrowind is RPG while Skyrim is just some action game with rpg elements. Morrowind's combat is based on skill and dize roll and stuff. Is it perfectly playable? For me, absolutely yes. Never had a problem with it.

Then there's stuff like atmosphere and story and variety of weapons etc. and Morrowind beats Skyrim 666-0 in that aspect.

I'd say you'll enjoy it once you get used to the fact that Morrowind is a proper RPG while Skyrim is only as said above an action game with rpg elements to it. Morrowind's story and atmosphere beat their Skyrim counterparts without a doubt. I really recommend it if you are looking for a good story and overall RPG experience. Also, there is no fast travel system and the game is overall just harder since it wasn't dumbed down for consoles. If you're looking for a game similar to Skyrim, you won't really find Morrowind all that interesting since it's a completely different thing.

PS: Don't try fighting in third person view. It just flat out doesn't work properly.

Just play it. It is still fun to play every now and then.

The best Elder Scrolls IMO. Some things can be annoying but are easily fixed with mods. The combat is bad but with such a great story, map and challange you wont care.

It's prefectly playable if you can accept the combat system for what it is- older style RPG, but with Mods you can even change that to better mimic more modern action/RPGs. With Mods, this game is both modern and playable. It is also a much larger and richer world than its modern conter-parts.

Thanks guys. I bought Oblivion and Morrowind too. I had to do it once I saw all the amazing mods it has.

Its roughtly 12 years old I believe, so yes its outdated, but Morrowind is still amazing nonetheless. The major concenus of most big TES fans say its the best in the series. If you're a fan of TES then you'll love it, if not I'd say pass over it.

it came out originally in 2002, so yes its outdated, and if you play it I highly recommend a graphics overhaul, which can make the game look amazing, close to Skyrim's level. The combat system is a little outdated, but other than that, its an amazing game.

Yeah, I have seen Morroblivion and Morrowind Overhaul or something like that, but are there any overhauls of Oblivion too?
Mortal Motö Dec 31, 2012 @ 11:29am

Is that good enough :P? And yeah, there's Oblivion overhaul but it is more like gameplay overhaul. They fixed leveling (trust me, it's a must), added femala guards and capes and stuff like that.

Are the mods compatible together, can I run both of em? I suppose so. Why am I even asking?
Mortal Motö Dec 31, 2012 @ 11:50am
No idea really, but I guess so since the overhaul doesn't do anything to graphics. The video wasn't mine. If I could run Oblivion with those settings I probably wouldn't be asking about Morrowind overhaul's fps on the other thread :D

I recently played the game, it's very outdated and will bore you to death. You need at least the morroblivion mod for it to be playable, it's ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, the game was probably great during it's time but it's 2012 now and the gameplay is so outdated. Everything I did felt like a chore. I had to repeatedly look in my journal to remind me what I needed to do open up the map to see where the frack I was going. It was a pain in the arsenal. If you love Skyrim, don't get this game you'll probably be bored like I was unless you play it with mods. Without mods this game is horrible.

If you aren't too fond of Oblivion, you may not like Morrowind. Fighting is a lot slower than the last two ES games. If you get it you may want to get mods for it.
