Game crashes right after I press play

Right after I press play on Steam, it gives me the Fallout 3 menu. After adjusting the settings, I press play. It goes into a black screen and then the mouse has the blue circle spinning. Then it says Fallout 3 has stopped working with just a black screen. How can I fix this?

Hamade are you crashing when clicking play in the fallout launcher also?

Did you read the second sentence of step 1?

The part where it says to update windows live if you crash when clicking play?

If you crash elsewhere in the game, then you need a different step (usually 4, but intel integrated GPU users may need step 7)
