Let me tell you a story.
On September the 26th, 1983, the command center just outside of Moscow was awoken by the sound of an alarm. An intercontinental ballistic missile had just been launched by the US and was now heading towards the Soviet Union. In the event of a nuclear attack by the US, It was standard prcedure to launch an immediate counter-attack. It was now up to the man in charge, Stanislav Petrov, to contract his superiors and to inform them, That a nuclear attack was imminent. A few minutes passed when four additional missiles were detected. However, Petrov decided to go against his training and did nothing. He reasoned that if the US were to strike, the attack would likely involve hundreds of missiles, not just a few. In other words, he suspected that this was a false-alarm. But as he had no way of confirming his suspicion he could only wait and hope.Fortunately, Petrov was correct in his assumptions as evident by the fact you are currently alive and a subsequent investigation revealed it was sunlight, reflecting off of high altitude clouds was responsible. If he had called his superiors, 100 + long range missiles would have came knocking at America's doors and following 100 + long range missiles would head to the Soviets. We were, Grazed by the Apocalypse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UW0LgiHFQQ ~

Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.
