Report a translation problem
If you do this it shoudl work.
Go to your Steam Library
Right click on Dead Pixels and select Properties
Click on Set Launch options
And type "-disablecontrolers" without the quotation marks
This will disable support for non xbox pads as it seems the steam controller is viewed as both an xbox pad and a 3rd party pad at once whihc is causing issues.
Playing with two pads should be as simple as setting up a co-op game and pressing start at the correct time.
