AC-130U Gunships
plese add these to the game they were active in this period of time they could have like a 105mm a 40mm and 2 20mms maybe? This would be sick to have as an aircraft.

They were damn well useless in a conventional theater due to no survivability whatsoever, its made for COIN operations and low level conflicts, not frontline combat in europe, again CoD and BF lied to you. Will not be added as stated dozens of times by the devs already.

okay then i know it isn't a first priority support aircraft I just thought it could be an interesting addition

They were and are only used when we have complete control of the skies, are faceing an enemy that is using guerilla tactics, and during night time when it becomes much more difficult to spot for ground based antiair. Those 3 items need to be met before an ac130 would deploy and wargame does not focus on those types of conflicts.

AC-130s would be decimated by the amount of AA in this game.

To be fair, so are most aircraft.

But I agree the AC-130 just doesn't fit with the flow of the game.

Either you spend 500 points on a single unit that a) gets instakilled by a manpad AA, or b) destroys every enemy unit on the map singlehandedly. How is this possibly even close to being interesting? Please, O Muse, tell us how you'd handle fuel? Reloads? Logistics? Would it just loiter out of the battle range, magically protected from enemy MiGs until you called it in, and it would somehow manage to appear before the twenty-minute time for the mission was out?

it's just so simple it they want the magical developers to add it for them because it seems so realistic.

I could see a use out of the AC-130 for those pesky inf attacks behind front lines, but other than that I agree with most of the comments on here.

What's with the condescending attitudes? It was a good question. How do ANY of the aircraft make it onto that battlefield? There are CAPS, BARCAPS, HAVCAPS and other aircraft to PROTECT those lumbering beasts. I could see it being like the Chinook, with a bunch of miniguns and a 105 on board that would circle out of range until needed... LIKE EVERY OTHER ♥♥♥♥ING AIRCRAFT IN THE GAME. Overkill, but still an interesting idea.

And people wonder why some are reluctant to actually play against other players.

u mad?
itchy01ca01 Aug 24, 2013 @ 2:30pm
I personally can't find a thread EVERY WEEK about the AC-130. There ARE ways to implement new aircraft types into the game, but it requires some creativity and forward thinking, something which some people here obviously lack.
