Wargame: AirLand Battle
This used to be a great game...
I used to love this game, but recently have started to notice EVERY game plays nearly the same. There used to be fluid ground battles, lovingly crafted plans, and some excellent combined arms ops. Now it is air units spamming like crazy, and not a lot else. The ground fighting becomes nearly pointless when your opponent has a larger air force than China, bombing an area the size of my garden, every few minutes. And yes the obvious solution is to spam AA, but then where's the fun? Just an observation anyway.

you play 10vs10?

air spam can be a problem in larger games as well but there it is easier to deal with
Start playing a Mix of game. I am hoping though one day that in the up and coming dlcs they add like ground only or era restricted stuff.
I love plane spam. Then I can get killboards like this.

I rarely call in more than 10 pieces of AA at a time in a 10v10 game unless I am handling two flanks. I do not consider MANPADS to be "AA" persay, and may call a dozen of those just to defend against helos and SEAD spam.

Actually, the funny thing about my napalm tank video in that proof of concept thread is that you can see how combined-arms it really is in terms of managing situations. Air forces get absolutely decimated using the blind hill positioning and the napalm tanks setting things on fire and the Su-122-54s and T-72s getting kill shots on armor.

Yes, I do realize I have a full airport of Mig-21s before we lose the airport, but when you're given a Cat C Mechanized, there's only so much you can put in that's actually worth its point count.

On a hunch I just tried a deck of pure AA (and some trucks for ammo) in a 10 v 10, and came out with 2438 points (3rd highest score on team). Im not against air in the game, just think the amount is getting silly.

Try getting into 3v3 and 4v4s. You will get lag if people don't have great connections, but you are seeing much smaller maps with a few people on your team that have to pull their weight. Air spam isn't as effective and pushing up to control the map early is.
It isn't the amount of aa that you use. It's HOW you use it. Yeah air is going to be nasty if unchecked, but that is the whole point, and for a game that prides itself on being realistic, that is integral factor. Layer aa. Have alot of "dumb" AA (non-radar enabled) with "smart" AA (vice-versa) hiding in back. You can only bring so many planes. If they keep ramming their head against a brick wall, that is their issue. Most will realise you are too smart and will shift their energies to another part of the front.
Nope , every game is now exactly the same. Air spam, air spam, air spam, some attempts at attacks that get (guess what) air spammed into atoms, a bit more air spam, the end. Thats it. I used to love wargame but it got old quick. And for realism try DCS world, which is free, and despite being mainly a flight simulator, has less air spamming than wargame!

Apple meet Orange..Orange meet Apple...DCS:World is the blackbox their flight sims plug-into and other than Combined Arms, is IS a flight Sim...not a RTS...
I'd imagine this game would be getting old for anyone who's played almost 300 hours...
You could always play the campaign as MP. Then you'll not have the air spam.
