The tutorials and first campaign (easy) are more mechanics of play than tactics and I only replayed a couple of missions/battles to win. I did find the end game of tutorial #5 hard and had to look up addition help for that.
Currently I'm playing the 2nd campaign (medium) and am in a losing game of attrition after the first battle was a draw. The battles restart the next day with reduced command points and units (rinse and repeat).
It's not terrible but it's is a PITA to make a comeback (from defeat) or a push (to victory) only to have the game called a draw because of the 20 min time limit.
I bought Escalation so I could play longer campaign missions and now have the best of both worlds.
If I just had AirLand I think would have given up playing eventually due to frustration with the 20min campaign battle time limit.
In skirmish mode you can partner a stronger AI or have longer time limits to help balance your skill level but I choose to play the Escalation SP campaign instead.
Gut feeling ATM AirLand AI is to weak on easy and to strong on medium.
Obviously there are stratagies and exploits that I've to learn/find to win over the AI, which is the fun part.
