Help! : Countering Nato-C Aardvark/Tomcat spam
Okay, I'm more of a casual player who usually plays with my friends. However one of my friends have developed this stupid(yes) spam tactic involving aardvarks and tomcat spams with NATO-C deck, with some added SEADs. We all laughed at it at first, until he started to tear me(and pretty much anyone else) apart. It seems pretty much any tactic is useless against that spam.

Tomcats have supposedly "low" accuracy, but their basic training level is absurdly high which seem to negate the accuracy issue. Cat-C enables them to be deployed by four. 4 tomcats just circling around will just pretty much tear through any aircraft trying to intercept it. Tomcats provide cover like this while Aardvarks just bomb the hell out of our ground forces, which is pretty much impossible to counter with any warpac decks.

I tried countering with MiG-31s, which failed miserably due to lack of numbers and veterancy. Su-27s and MiG-21Bis(Czech) also failed as they usually got blasted apart from far off. Buks are able to protect certain areas, but limited in numbers, clumsy, vulnerable to SEADs and pretty much unable to build in a non-USSR deck. Massive number of Shilkas resulted in them being slaughtered by Aardvarks.

Also, this guy does not even micro his planes. He just throws them in a thick AA nest where the Aardvarks will just clear off the AAs in the area like a boss.
I think its not a problem of me being a "noob", when 8 Shilkas and 1 ROMB failed to kill a single Aardvark just circling over them. Twice. And they were all actively shooting at it. It's not a firing range problem or anything. Imagine what would happen if he is actually able to micro his planes.

So enough of my crying and to the point.

I really need an effective counter to this mindless airspam tactic. Something that can actually bring the fight to him.

dont know about you but what you said is a easy counter. how many point do you start with ? if 1000 only (normaal games always) then you just need to kill the tomcats before he has 4 which is really easy for a su 27s or a mig 25m . and aardvark are good in avoiding missiles but not that good i see them taken out pretty easy in a aa nest of one buk and a astrela.

the only reason i see you losing is because you either dont have enough aa or you take to long to get air to air fighters .. and even if he starts with 2 tomcat at the beginning he limiet himself at the ground so you can pretty easy beat him there . and a c deck is not good again high end troops.

i also have a c/deck with that 4 tomcat and aardvark but they pretty easy deck to defeat if you not play with another player as support for better aa and tanks

To counter SEAD aircraft use infrared anti air. Also, what I do whith my radar AA when I see a SEAD aircraft coming is turn off their weapons right away, and then wait until the SEAD aircraft passes over to turn them back on so they can get a shot at the plane.
Both tomcats and mig-31s are a huge pain when there are lots of them. Can't think of any effective counter to that except for having more than the enemy.

Aadvarks however should be pretty easy to deal with. Their turning circle after dropping off their payload is not very impressive and should put them in range of all your aas. You don't need BUKs - KUBs, OSAs, manpads... any missile AA should be able to take them out pretty quickly. The 20 point OSAs are extremely effective for taking down aeroplanes for their price - at 20 point, it doesnt even matter if they die. Use a mechanized deck for the +1 support veterancy if you already know you are up against a plane deck.

Older deck but still mostly relevant.

Create a Cat C USSR deck and load up on OSA-AKs and Strelas, and add in Buks. Disable Buk radar missiles and let AA fire. If you know there are no SEAD, turn on Buks, dead everything else.
I usually just rush tomcats with mig-21s or su-27s. odds are their first missile will miss and if it does they are screwed.
Hot key your radar AA and just flip off when sead approaches, once past flip back on to shoot their backside :D
I'm sorry, but I love the Aardvark. It's so big and slow, but carries so many AT cluster bombs. I'd marry that plane if i could....

You could always try and lure it in with one tempting target, but have a metric ♥♥♥♥ ton of cheap non radar AA in the area surrounding it: that way you can just use sheer volume of fire to knock it out the sky.
